Have North Korean restaurant workers defected to South Korea or been kidnapped ???

Probably most of, if not all of, people in this forum dont know whats going on, so let me do my best to explain what has been going on.

On April 8th, South Korea government announced 13 North Korean defected to South Korea on April 7th, just a day before announcement.

South Korea government's Unification ministry spokesman held a press conference that day, and announced defectors are 1 restaurant manager and 12 restaurant workers and they arrived Seoul on April 7th.

The spokesman said they defected to South Korea because defectors realized fictiousness of North Korea after they watched South Korea's TV, drama, movie, and internet abroad.

People found out there was really a North Korean restaurant called in RyuGyung in China where the restaurant suddenly stopped operation, because restaurant workers disappeared. The restaurant workers are mostly young ladies in their 20s. Some are even younger than 20.

North Korea, however, claims the North Korean workers were kidnapped. There were 7 restaurant workers remaining in the restaurant, and North Korea showed video of those remaining girls who testified the manager and South Korea NIS tricked the girls to kidnap them to South Korea, but they escaped.

South Korea government, however, still insisted the girls defected to South Korea by their own will, but
the girls were not allowed public contact of any kind. No reporters could interview the girls.

North Korea showed video of the girls' family in North Korea, who says something like their daughter would never defect to South Korea. North Korea also offered to send families of kidnapped girls to South Korea to meet the girls.

Then North Korea said the girls are locked up in small cell individually and some girls are in life threatening state, because they are refusing to eat. South Korea denied all this.

Then North Korea's private media claimed one of the girls died. The media later claimed they confirmed death of youngest girl whose name is KyungAh Suh. The media's source of this information is from a retired NIA worker.

South Korea government again denied all this saying this is North Korea's propaganda.

South Korea government, however, is still not allowing anyone to contact the girls.

Please be reminded the only media of any kind on them were just this one picture where they are walking to somewhere in groups with carrying bags, and masks on.

There has been no voice, no interview, nothing, just words that the girls defected to South Korea, because they got sick of North Korea government.

So a group of lawyers in South Korea requested interview with the girls to South Korea government, but it is denied.

That's the following news on May 16th.

Today's news is that families of the workers in North Korea chose these lawyers of South Korea to be legal delegates for the girls.

According to the law, once these lawyers become legal delegates for the girls, they can ask immediate release of the girls from NIS's custody, and the truth will be revealed.

It's North Korea. If their media claimed water was wet I still wouldn't believe them.

Seriously who would anyone take NK's word for it on anything?

I'm going to go with years of finely honed investigative instincts and say "defected."
