I ask this because it seems like Trump's second administration is far more extreme than the first.

I am curious if anyone has experienced a situation where political or business disagreements have affected any their personal relationships recently.
 
They dont respect you as a human being, why the need to respect them? Its as simple as that. You want to be around me? You cant support someone who tried his own reichtag fire to remain in power. That is a huge disrespect for your fellow Americans and an indication that you do not value them as Americans.

Nope - and there's two buckets to my answer.

First is that a political discussion in a corporate business environment in Canada is virtually unheard of. It's considered a rude topic to bring up.

Now let's talk about my American friends, several of whom are Trump supporters. They've bridged politics with me only to be met with stone cold silence. They learned from that experience.

Outside of this forum I never give my political opinions and don't care to hear other's except with my closest friends.

I tend to separate the Trumpers from the GOP. There are several conservatives on this forum that I will rarely agree with, but respect their stance as
merely being different from my own. MAGA however, is a different story, most MAGA's are too stupid to pour water out of a boot if the directions are on the heel.
 
Of course not. But the hatred by the left knows no bounds so I expect them to have a different answer.
 
I agree there are several republicans on here who admit trump is a loon who doesn't know what he's doing, most though in the gop have succumbed to the stupid.

There was no irony in my post. I dont hate or avoid people who disagree with me politically. Its the left who behave that way.

No. I can have conversations with people who think differently than I do without feeling the need to cut them off. That would only happen if the disagreement became personal and would be more a reflection of their inability to interact like an adult. If there are differences I can talk about my ideals without demanding they agree, or demeaning them if they don’t.
 
No. I don't talk politics with most people. I would mention this away from politics, if you tell me what pronouns I may use to address you, then I am finished talking to you.

There are some people, some of them family members, I avoid due to their political beliefs and their inability to shut the hell up about it. It can be much the same as religious zealotry.

I have a tendency to avoid discussing politics and religion in public other than on DP anyway.
 
Lately, and rather surprisingly, the answer is no.

Over the last several months I still frequent my usual places seeing plenty of people, including those who own those places, that I know are Republicans. Not a single issue I can think of that even when talking about things in the news or borderline political discussion devolved into some mess. People I work with, coworkers and clients, nothing there either.

Granted I do not seek people out to go make a mess of some conversation but even neighbors helping neighbors, a wave passing each other, all okay. But I live in a very MAGA area just north of Atlanta, and I see little evidence that I am treated differently because of not being MAGA.

Not in a significant way, however I have avoided doing any business with or being a customer at any business that I happen to learn is strongly aligned with MAGA, and of course my family is no longer traveling to any rural or conservative areas of the country, although that's just simple prudence being a non-white.
