I've crawled around in cow pastures eating them as I pick them and bringing them home in a paper bag. Does that count?
I liked mushrooms back in the day. I liked hallucinogenics generally and mushrooms were like a more friendly version of LSD. Mildly hallucinogenic and a nice head stone. If its your first time I'd advise eating a couple or three and then waiting a half hour before deciding it wasnt enough and eating more.
 
Hm.....no, my only experience with them was when I was told we'd be shrooming at the amusement park and I thought, sounds fun! Well, it wasn't what I thought we were doing, and I'll never forget the experience is all I have to say........oh high school.....:ROFLMAO:

I microdosed on a certain cough-syrup, just last week. I did some vigorous exercise as I felt it coming on, to get my blood pressure up and the dose into my brain. I did some yoga to increase my self-awareness. But I didn't get much effect after all.

My preferred brand of cough syrup got taken off the market, and I was trying to dose up on a different brand. Which it turns out was mis-labelled. It really has dextromethorphan hydrobromide hydrochloride in it. The good shit is dextromethorphan hydrobromide. I think I got a bit of metabolite high anyway, but it wasn't worth it because the muck I was taking also had maltitol and sorbitol in it, one or both of which caused massive intestinal gas. I was in serious pain, only periodically relieved by huge farts, also explosive diarrhea. If I was a lawyer, I would sue the bastards.

If you can get cough syrup with dextromethorphan hydrobromide in it, a first dose of 100 mg or so should let you know if you like it. I do like it, and sometimes did doses up to 400 mg, but sadly I can't get it legally any more.

Microdose of that would probably be 50 mg or so, and depending on formulation you may experience some recreational farting.

So you tripped on a microdose?

Back when I was a serious drug user (as opposed to pharma consumer) we druggies had some friends who didn't take drugs at all, or wouldn't take particular drugs. And as far as I could tell, they went tripping too just from being around a group who were tripping. It's called a "contact high" and in my experience, it's a very genuine thing.

You can see it even in drinkers and non-drinkers. If the environment of the person is drunk, they behave drunk themselves and who is to say whether they experience drunkenness?

Anyway, if you're looking for a microdose to find out if mushrooms are "right" for you, firstly I would say that mushrooms aren't the best choice. Dose can vary from one mushroom to another, even if they're from the same patch of ground. It's notoriously hard to calibrate dose, with mushrooms, unless perhaps you have friends who know their patch well. Secondly, I'd suggest just sitting in on other people's trips and seeing if the "vibe" is something you're comfortable with. You'll get a good idea of what 'shrooms will do to you, by experiencing it at second-hand.

Mushrooms are wild drugs, they can vary in strength (though properties are fairly consistent if you're sure of the species). Cough syrup is a pharmaceutical, it is absolutely predictable in strength and properties ... unless it's mis-labelled, grrrr.

In either case you're talking about a trip. You dose up, nothing happens for a while, then you begin a ramp up to a psychedelic experience. Which really can't be described. The point is that it is entirely different to drugs like alcohol or pot, where you take a bit and if you like it, you take a bit more. New users of psychedelics (legal psychedelics I hasten to add) sometimes make the mistake of taking more an hour or so after their first dose, this usually does not go well and in any case is a waste of drugs.

I gave you the name of a cough syrup ingredient. If it's legal where you are, I would really recommend that predictable and well-calibrated ingredient, over mushrooms, if you're looking for a "threshold" effect. The quantity I suggested, 50 mg, is less than twice the recommended dose for coughs. You could drink the whole bottle without serious health effects: take it from someone who drank two at one time.

But you haven't really said what your interest in microdosing is?

Maybe I'm way wide of the mark assuming you're a less experienced person I can give advice to.

It had been many, many years since I last took psychedelics when last (American) football season my friend brought some shrooms to the get-together, and they were enjoyable, but I needed at least double the dose, so I guess that qualifies as a microdose.

Nevertheless, it was vaguely euphoric and color was pleasantly heightened. The whole trip was subtle and lasted three, maybe four hours.

That said, I caution you to make sure trusted friends are present in case anything goes awry, doubly so your first time.

It's been awhile but last time I did just enough to feel a certain amount of relaxation, I don't like taking too much and losing too much control of my thoughts after a super bad trip years ago so microdosing was the route for me, and just ended up with the giggles and the urge to dance the night away. Start small, see how it feels, and increase little by little if you feel you want to feel more. I don't know what kind of things you are into but I liked to do them before spending time in nature or going to a nightclub. These days I just feel too old to do shrooms.

Microdosing mushrooms is honestly a wonderful way to garner a slightly euphoric experience. Finding the proper dosage is a little more challenging because at least for me it depends on the person/their weight/their tolerance etc. What gets me dosed and what gets my friend dosed are different measures for sure. With microdosing you will feel a slight sense of euphoria, this is usually brought on after your stomach starts feel like it is "churning" which is when the psychedelics are at work. Typically, for me when I microdose there is a sense of heightened visual acuity, a euphoric mood, and sometimes precipitated by what I would describe as a "warm pressure" in my head. I have microdosed LSD, mushrooms, peyote, pot, whatever. Mushrooms are easily the most manageable and tend to wear off relatively quickly as a normal dose and trip are about 4-5 hours. I have microdosed and have gone about my day which includes going to work, riding my bicycle, interacting with customers and randoms on the street, friends, whatever. I usually don't tell them I'm microdosing as the effects of mushrooms is largely "unnoticeable". I would say that I am extremely experienced in drug use and certainly would consider myself a responsible user. I have also found that orange juice and mushrooms are a good combination as the taste of mushrooms is generally not great and the vitamin-C and juice is a pleasant thing to pair it with.

I definitely support your experimenting. Happy trails. There's nothing to fear, although if you have a history of severe mental illness caution is heavily warranted. I've had trips where they begin to turn bad but those aspects sort themselves out rather quickly when you remember that differentiations in mood, attitudes and perceptions of ourselves are normal even when we are sober.

I have. It didn't accomplish what i hoped. My sister, on the other hand, swears by it. She's had good success curbing anxiety symptoms with it.

I think it's something you just have to try. The good news is that it's not going to do anything negative to you at those doses, so long as you get it from a reputable source.
