SEN. HARRY REID (D-NV): "Isn't it a good thing today in America that we have an automobile manufacturing sector? If it had been up to them [Republicans], General Motors would be gone. If it were up to them, Ford Motor Company would probably be gone. Chrysler definitely would be gone."

It's not that he is just some rank and file Senator from NV, he is the Majority leader for Christ sake! The man that the liberals voted for in the Senate....This is good stuff!

It is no different than the many gaffes McCain made during his Presidential campaign which ultimately doomed him.

Hey, you get no argument from me there....But McCain is not the leader of anything.

The bailout was nothing but a band-aid for something that need surgery.

how do we know for sure that it was even that? I mean, is there any real solid proof that ANY of this money wasn't just flushed down the Union toilet?

Let me see if I have this right:

1) Ford makes crappy cars that get horrible gas mileage.

2) The Japanese kicks Ford's ass by giving Americans what they want.

3) Ford gets into financial trouble, and it alone is responsible for it.

4) Ford gets welfare money from the government.

Kind of funny, isn't it. Ford touts Capitalism until they start getting beaten by natural forces in the market, then they whine and beg for Socialism. That's the problem with banksters and large corporations. Socialism for them, whenever they want it. Capitalism and "pull yourself up by the bootstraps" for everybody else. Who the **** do they think they are?

Didn't need surgery, it need tax cuts, spending cuts and the Gov't to get the hell out of the way.

But oh no, we can't let things "fail".

More Proof Dan's not only NOT a Conservative, but he's also clueless as to what he's talking about. Way to defend Reid, like a good little Progressive...

Ford on a roll after spurning bailout
Examiner Editorial
January 13, 2010

Automakers from around the world gathered in the Motor City this week for the North American International Auto Show. The annual event used to be a very big deal because the United States was the largest auto market in the world. But now that China has eclipsed the United States as the most important market, and only Ford remains healthy among the once-mighty Big Three, the Detroit show has lost much of its luster. But that doesn't prevent top auto executives from using the gathering as an opportunity to make statements designed to influence customers and politicians alike. Sometimes, though, their statements say as much or more about them as they do about their industry's positions on great public policy issues.

Rejecting bailout wins political capital for Ford
By Ian Swanson - 01/27/10 07:00 AM ET

Ford is reaping the benefits that go with being the only U.S. automaker not to take a bailout.

A little more than a year after the Big Three CEOs came to Washington for help, Ford has increased its share of the U.S. market, seen its stock increase six-fold over the last year and is hiring workers in a recession.

While General Motors was stigmatized as “government motors,” Ford’s data shows its brand reputation at a high level.

The company thinks this will also benefit it in Washington.

“I think we’re very much respected for … running a healthy business and not asking for taxpayer money,” Ford CEO Alan Mulally told reporters in Washington on Tuesday.

Obviously you have trouble reading I said this above

Note, Dan ran like hell when his BS was called to the mat.

Just a note: Ford did benefit from the bailout even if they were not given money. Posted that on the other thread. ;)

Oh no, they "benefited" indirectly. ****, they might as well have taken billions themselves right?? You reached Boo, I ignored your silliness there, and here I am mocking you here.

shouldnt that have read GM and Chrysler instead of Ford?
Ford actually did not receive a Government hand out?

Benefit is benefit. No way around it. It would have hurt Ford if the others had folded. Now, you can be silly about it, pretend if you want, but the facts are the facts. Nothing more. nothing less.
