While campaigning in Nevada Tuesday, Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid told an audience of mostly Hispanic voters: "I don't know how anyone of Hispanic heritage could be a Republican, okay. Do I need to say more?"
Harry Reid: "I don't know how anyone of Hispanic heritage could be a Republican." | The Weekly Standard

But don't take the Weekly Standards word for it, take Harry's!

Could you imagine if a Republican had said:
I don't know how anyone of Caucasian Heritage could be a Democrat, okay. Do I need to say more?

And this makes him racist how?

I agree. Personally, I do not understand why any person of color or gay person would join a party who generally seek to undermine the advancement of their communities.

Nothing here but fake outrage, move along.
Methinks MrViccho protests too much.

Notice how how the liberals see no problem with this?

You guys are silly, really. Tell us DD, how do Conservatives hurt Minorities? Because we think they are capable and able to succeed without government, where as people like you keep telling them that they cannot do anything without help?

I always find the mindless fighting between the left and right on race to be ****ing amusing. Since both justify it, the right justifies bigotry from Cold War relic Pat Buchanan as "standing up to political correctness" and then the left justification for Sharpton's racism as "rectifying a wrong". The only reason the neocon statists chickenhawks of the Weekly Standard even give a damm is because they want our votes pretty much like the left does. When in reality they stand for the same things, socialism, statistism and warmongering which of the last one you wont see any of them getting in the sand.

No, it's truth you don't want to hear.

Why else is there AA now, in teh 21st century?

Ummmm...because recovering alchoholics still need the meetings? :)

Oh, you mean Affirmative Action.....
We need it because Dems think minorities can't accomplish anything on their own. They need hand outs and that includes handouts of jobs and educations.
Conservatives think everyone is equal and all minorities deserve is the same opportunities as the next guy to succeed. Minorities aren't less than or more than anyone else.

Please enlighten us how the conservatives seek to undermine the advancement of the hispanic community! That should be a LOT of fun...

Wait...I'll do it for you. Because conservatives believe in the rule of law and the LEGAL immigration process that UNDERMINES hispanics. Whereas liberals are all for those brown people coming here...working for wages no American would work for and doing jobs no American would do. In a climate that ensure illegal hispanics will live in fear or cannot legally utilize hand-UP resources to better themselves.

Other than insisting that hispanics like all others be here legally...just what exactly is this whole undermining hispanics thing about again?

Oh...and BTW Double D...Most hispanic families I know are hard working family oriented catholics who oppose gay marriage. What was the percentage of hispanics in Ca that voted for prop 8? Outrage makes for strange bedfellows, doesnt it.

This isn't racism, just another stupid pulling of the race card.

Why are you deviating from your OP?
Why have you changed your avatar since I said you protest too much?

Why hasnt a single liberal who disagreed with the OP offered anything to the discussion, supported reids claims, or explained how the republicans are 'racist' to hispanics?

I mean...hell...if we are asking 'why'...

Don't believe Reid is likely to be a racist. Do believe he is a politician who is deperate to get re-elected. And has a habit of occasionly making some way dimwitted remarks.

Suspect the Nevada race is going to be a close one. And probably not boring....

Reid isnt dimwitted. It was a calculated comment designed to instill racism in an attempt to gain votes. It is a tried and true practice the democrats regularly employ. The only thing more pathetic than democrats that use it is that some liberals fall for it.

Marco Rubio is taking this one well. I heard because he thinks Reid is such a great and smart guy, he's switching parties.
