Makes me sick that should would be honored for anything.

She should have been shot.

<sigh>

Snopes should no longer be a secret.

"It's a figment of somebody's imagination," says Ret. Col. Larry Carrigan, one of the servicemen mentioned in the 'slips of paper' incident. Carrigan was shot down over North Vietnam in 1967 and did spend time in a POW camp. He has no idea why the story was attributed to him, saying, "I never met Jane Fonda."

Driscoll said he never met Fonda, as the e-mail claims — and therefore, never spit on her and didn't suffer permanent double vision from a subsequent beating. "Totally false. It did not happen," Driscoll said.

Mike McGrath, President of NAM-POWs, has also stepped forward to disclaim the story: Please excuse the generic response, but I have been swamped with so many e-mails on the subject of the Jane Fonda article (Carrigan, Driscoll, strips of paper, torture and deaths of POWs, etc.) that I have to resort to this pre-scripted rebuttal. The truth is that most of this never happened. This is a hoax story placed on the internet by unknown Fonda haters. No one knows who initiated the story. Please assist by not propagating the story. Fonda did enough bad things to assure her a correct place in the garbage dumps of history. We don't want to be party to false stories, which could be used as an excuse that her real actions didn't really happen either. I have spoken with all the parties named: Carrigan, Driscoll, et al. They all state that this particular internet story is a hoax and they wish to disassociate their names from the false story.
etc ...

NP, you can't believe everything in your inbox.

Now the guys who're geting lied about have yet another google hit that asscoiates them withe flasehoods.

Also ftr, even tho the story says that JF "is about to be honored," the story aired in 1999

Even if that story is false and it sounds like it you cant dismiss the pic's of her behind anti aircraft guns pretending to shoot Americans down. I will search for them today.

Captain Mike McGrath, USN (Ret.) and Charles "Skip" Klingman have both written rebuttals of The Bogus Jane Fonda Story.

I asked; who might benefit from a bogus Jane Fonda story? Jane Fonda and her image rehabilitators, that's who. Just picture a hand-wringing, tear-drenched Oprah Winfrey television audience hanging on every word as a Fonda apologist says "See! I told you! They'll do anything to crucify Jane Fonda. They will even make up horrible lies about her just to drag her down."

You decide for yourself.

"Hanoi Jane" apologized for her actions but no true Vietnam Vet will ever accept that apology.........

I dont see how anyone, vet or not, would accept the appology.

Simon, trying to dispute the story as a false claim????????? Sickening.

How is posting something relating to the veracity of the story sickening?

why is it that far righties 'inform' themselves by sending ancient emails to each other? i'm on receiving end of several friends' email junk lists, and I wish they'd stop. they think I'm a rightie, too.

the liberals are trying to take crosses out of cemetaries. they found jets buried in a sandstorm in Iraq. etc.

Navy:

You CLAIM to be a believer in Jesus Christ....but yet again you post something that calls into question the truth of that statement.
Under the teachings of Christ, forgiveness requires forgiveness. If you expect to be forgiven you must be willing to forgive those who wronged you.

Oh...but I forgot...you have nothing to be forgiven for.

I don't know if we are talking about far right or far left.........We are talking about Vietnam Vets and the things this woman did to them by her traitorous actions.....

Vietnam Vets will never forgive "Hanoi Jane or "Lurch" Kerry....Two of the biggest traitors this country has ever had..........

^
If thats true...I feel sorry for them because as a follower of Christ I believe that peace and healing begin with forgiveness and that you cannot have salvation without forgiveness. As a "Christian" do you agree Navy?

Its more like disgust and hate for her for what she did to our POWs........

I'll agree it isn't going to make my top 10 ethical choices of the 20th century. But she has repented, and I believe that it is sincere. Have you read her apology, or seen anything about it?

Yes, my Lodge of the American Legion as well as the Fleet Reserve Association wrote her a letter and basicly told her to stick her apology where the sun does not shine......................

We enclosed a picture of her sitting on that gunmount in Hanoi that shot down our planes............

LOL!!

I bring quotes from the POWs who're mentioned in the story. These guys say the story's a hoax and they wish their names were not associated with it.
Yet somehow you see respecting the wishes of these POWs as sickening.

Perhaps you're missing something in this exchange.
Or perhaps you earnestly think that when POWs rebut lies told about them it's sickening.

In either case, it's very, very humorous. ROFLMAO!!

Simon, you can say what you want about the stories and defend "Hanoi Jane" all you want but pictures don't lie and you can not deny that is her on that Gun Mount in Hanoi.......

This is effin hilarious!

I ain't denying nothin'.
It's very, very, very simple.
You posted lies about some Vietnam POWs.
I posted rebuttals to those lies from the actual Vietnam POWs in question. (Along with their explicit requests that their names not be associated with the lies.)
For some reason you choose twist this in your mind into an attempt to defend JF.

2fn funny!

It's a symptom of the "never admit error" mentality -- especially prevelant in cons.

She should not have apologized, she had no reason to do so.
