Israel arrests senior Hamas lawmaker

Source: http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/20060820/ap_on_re_mi_ea/israel_palestinians

RAMALLAH, West Bank - Israeli troops detained a senior Hamas legislator on Sunday, pushing forward with a crackdown on the Islamic militant group, Palestinian officials and relatives of the man said.

Troops surrounded the home of Mahmoud al-Ramahi, secretary-general of the parliament, in broad daylight and detained him, said his sister, Yaqeen.

Al-Ramahi had evaded arrest since Israel began its crackdown on Hamas officials following the June 25 abduction of an Israeli soldier by Hamas-linked militants in the Gaza Strip. Israel is now holding five Cabinet ministers and more than two dozen lawmakers.

The Israeli army had no immediate comment.

Hamas is finally paying the price for their terrorist tactics. I wonder if they will be be smart enough to leave Isreal alone now.

Exactly right. After thousands of years of domestication, there is still only one way to deal with a mad dog or a terrorist.

In that case, I would say there needs to be a discussion regarding the elimination of those who supply Hamas with money and weapons.

I have long favored bombing Iran and Syria each time a terrorist attack happens anywhere in the world. This will provide Iran and Syria with an incentive to stop funding terrorists.

Good point. Saddam used to buy Palestinian children from their parents (for $25k each) for suicide attacks, and we don't see very much of that any more.

Indeed.

Once Syria and Iran are anihilated (I hate to take it that far but with terrorists there is no other way) there will a massive drop in terrorist activity world wide.

The Ayetollah and all his stooges need to be eliminated. The current dictator of Syria needs to be eliminated.

No money, no terrorism!

Iran leader challenges authority of U.N.

AP - 2 hours, 47 minutes ago

TEHRAN, Iran - Iran's hard-line president challenged the United Nations on Tuesday, two days before a Security Council ultimatum demanding his country roll back its suspect nuclear program, and instead proposed a televised debate with President Bush. President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad said no one can prevent Iran from pursuing what he called a peaceful nuclear program — not even U.N. Secretary-General Kofi Annan, who was expected in Iran on Saturday.

The esteemed Secretary-General of the Useless Nothings can't tell his Annan from a hole in the ground when it comes to identifying terrorists. I rather expect him to tell the Iranians how to phrase a response that gives him another excuse to do what he excels at - absolutely nothing, except call another meeting.

I couldn't agree more.
