Former U.N. Ambassador and South Carolina Gov. Nikki Haley, often mentioned as a possible 2024 GOP presidential contender, said Monday that she would not seek her party’s nomination if former President Donald Trump opts to run a second time.

Meanwhile, just a few weeks ago Haley said the following:

“He’s not going to run for federal office again,”
Haley said.

But what if he does? Or at least, what if he spends the next four years threatening to? Can the Republican Party heal with Trump in the picture?

“I don’t think he’s going to be in the picture,” she said, matter-of-factly. “I don’t think he can. He’s fallen so far.”

This was the most certainty I’d heard from any Republican in the aftermath of January 6. And Haley wasn’t done.

“We need to acknowledge he let us down,” she said. “He went down a path he shouldn’t have, and we shouldn’t have followed him, and we shouldn’t have listened to him. And we can’t let that ever happen again.”

The Democrats should thank Trump for discrediting a serious GOP rival for 2024.

I saw this on Morning Joe. So two months ago he was the devil incarnate. Yesterday he's the candidate she'd support. Does she realize how stupid she looks, in more ways than one?

WAIT for it folks, this knock on Haley will be met by a lot of buts......

But the Liberals, But Joe Biden, But Nancy Pelosi, But the DISHONEST media, But BLM, But something......... anything than address the issue of Haley's flipflopping.

She's not serious. She's an amoeba in the sea of R politics. Floating with the current. I hope she wins the 2024 nomination. D candidate in a walkover.

Typical politician covering all the bases. Maybe one of these days the Republican Party will come to its senses and provide some reasonable candidates.

I hope so. I don't want to have to keep voting for the party I never supported simply because the party I supported for 36 years can't act like rational adults.

Eisenhower is rolling in his grave.

Haley is playing to the Trumpublican and Q-Nut base. She sold herself out several years ago. I have no respect for her as a candidate for anything.

Liz Cheney?

You talk in baseball terms but I prefer to see this in military ones which can be applied in moral terms. There is a saying that "he who defends everything, defends nothing." Trump just made Haley look like an unprincipled b***. In short, he has shaped her to his image and this is good news for the Democrats. I hope this will go on with the rest of the top GOP candidates. And if they want to have Trump run again in 2024, I am all for it.

Nikki Haley knows better than to piss Trump off at this point, as does every other Republican who has future political aspirations. They all have to survive primaries and that cannot be done without Trump, simple as that. Once they are the party nom for whatever office, they will re-assess their ties to Trump because they then face a very different electorate and may need to distance themselves from Trump one day. Today is not that day.

Unsure Haley is a good source for really anything but ass-kissing devotion to the Trumpism faction of the Republican Party.

Was a Republican for most of my adult life. Changed to Independent a few years ago. I started having doubts when the Tea Party started ramping up in Arizona. The Republican leadership in Arizona has gone off track. I think that is one reason Arizona two Senators are Democrats.

Right after W, under the misguidance of "Uncle Dick" Chenney, somehow invaded Iraq because the Saudis were responsible for 911 o_O , I left the GOP. The GOP only became worse. Today there really is no GOP and the old GOP isn't coming back.

There is no way in the world I could/would ever support a party of white nationalists, evangelical dominionists, anarchists, slap ****ing crazy conspiracists, and fascists.

It must suck to be pressured into joining a zombie cult in order to do one's job. It just doesn't sound worth it.

This echoes my thoughts on the matter:

In this video soundbite from today [MSM Story Here] the opportunistic wind-tester known as Nikki Haley, the Mitt Romney of John McCains, says she will not run for reelection against President Trump should he decide to run. Which is a rather remarkable statement of support for President Trump considering a few weeks ago she said:
…”“I don’t think [Trump’s] going to be in the picture,” she said, matter-of-factly. “I don’t think he can. He’s fallen so far.” […] “We need to acknowledge he let us down,” she said. “He went down a path he shouldn’t have, and we shouldn’t have followed him, and we shouldn’t have listened to him. And we can’t let that ever happen again.” (link)
So Haley said: “we shouldn’t have followed” Trump, and we “shouldn’t have listened to Trump”, and “we can’t ever let that happen again”… Yet somehow, today, after all that, she now says she will support him – even so far as to eliminating her own run for office. WATCH:

The problem for Haley is that the Republican rank and file...most of them, at least...know her and agree with that article, too. And don't forget...Trump won't talk to her. She's going nowhere.

I thought she had a spine.

I was impressed that she was able to serve the Trump administration with dignity and competence; was able to periodically stand up to Trump; and was able to leave the administration with her reputation substantially in tact. I thought she was the most formidable candidate for POTUS in 2024 that the Republicans had to offer.

Unfortunately, the only constancy amongst Republicans is that each will eventually fall far short of all reasonable expectations that they really have America's interests at heart.

She's proven herself to be a tool.

You are correct. The GOP that I knew - the one of Eisenhower and HW Bush and some others - is long gone. It's now the crude, vile party of that filth Trump.

Not only that but there are those who supported Trump and those who still do. Ex-president Trump lowered the already criminally low standards of political service and attracted some of the worst of the worst in America. It is amazing to me that some Americans still support Trump and Trumpism.
