Jovenel Moïse: Foreign hit squad killed Haiti's president, police say

So a squad of foreign mercenaries killed Haiti's President. And now no one is sure who is in charge and who even should take over, due to Haiti's political institutions having completely eroded. In theory it should be the Prime Minster, the problem is there's more than one person claiming to be Prime Minister, and there is no National Assembly, because it's mandate ran out in 2019 due to elections being cancelled.

Yeah it's turning out to be something that I'm sure Hollywood is looking at as a good intrigue plot for a movie. With Samuel L. Jackson as the President of course.

In these situations it's not difficult to follow the money so it won't be long before we know who set this up.

Joluolo:

To date the assassins number 28! 18 Colombians, 2 American-Haitians, several from the Dominican Republic (number unclear) and several as yet unidentified. 4 of the 28 were killed in fire fights during their apprehension. The 2 Haitian-Americans, almost all of the Colombians and 6 others had former military experience. This was a very big and well resourced operation and was probably backed by a state actor.

It is becoming clear that the world of modern mercenary operations is an ever growing threat to the stability of states and to state leaders. It is time to outlaw this kind of business involving soldiers for hire. Mercenaries must be stopped and mercenary companies need to be dissolved. End this now.

Cheers and be well.

First you need to look at the assassination of the Dutch renowned investigative journalist de Vries .

He had 'cracked open ' the CIAs involvement with drug smuggling in Haiti on a huge international scale . Plus trafficking .

He had visited the Haiti President and it was 8 hours after de Vries was gunned that the latter was also eliminated .

As ever , follow the money .

These days it is always Trafficking and Drugs .Which means there is always CIA involvement .

Perfectly legal in the US. Academi was founded in 1997 by ultra-con Erik Prince as Blackwater. In 2007, a group of its employees killed 17 Iraqi civilians and injured 20 in Baghdad for which four guards were convicted in the U.S. They were predictably pardoned by Trump on December 22, 2020, but remain as convicted, guilty.

Eric Prince is one of the worst people imaginable. And mercanaries really has to be stopped. However I suspect the interest to reign in mercenaries isn't there, not when governments have interests in hiring them for their own purposes.

"A group of 28 foreign mercenaries, including retired Colombian soldiers, assassinated Haiti's President Jovenel Moïse earlier this week, police say.
Several were detained after a gun battle at a house in the capital Port-au-Prince where they were holed up.
Bloodied and bruised, suspects were paraded in front of media on Thursday, along with a slew of seized weapons.
Several suspects are still on the run, and at least three have been shot dead by police."

I’m pretty sure there is a ‘black market’ for people with ‘a very particular set of skills.’

So what is the theory as to why this guy had to be killed?

At some point you are going to have to be able to carry on a discussion without invoking the name: Trump.

I guarantee you the Erik Princes of the world are watching this and pondering how to scale it up to superpower assassination style.
And we are looking at a former POTUS right now who forged DEEP ties to Erik Prince through his sister Betsy DeVos, and that former POTUS believes he will be reinstated mid-August.
Is anyone really willing to totally rule out non-state actor mercenary emperors like Erik Prince playing a role in future insurrections and assassination attempts in this country?
I rule out nothing, especially when there are bright red lines connecting these bad actors to the former nexus of state power.

I smell an inside job. How does anyone just go to the President’s house, shoot him dead, and walk away?
28 well armed trained mercenaries could take out the leader of even developed countries. Not likely the US President but someone like the Canadian PM would be at risk.

The two Americans said they are of Haitian ethnicity and were hired as translators.

They said they have no military training and they were told the purpose of the operation was to kidnap Moïse, not kill him.

Who knows?

The BBC updates the earlier story. 11 of the mercs were arrested in the Taiwanese consulate after breaking in. Farther down in the piece are some interesting facts re Haiti.
11 million people call Haiti home.

Kidnap or kill a country’s leader probably comes with the same set of risks to one’s freedom or life….🤷

So what is the theory as to why this guy had to be killed?
He wasn't a very good person, he accumulated a lot of enemies. I can't see the CIA winning anything on destabilizing Haiti even further, so probably not them this time. Most likely political rival, or someone he had managed to offend for some reason.

One report states that the mercs had video camera footage from inside the Presidential residence, gives your theory weight.

Certainly. But there is an empirical difference that may entice someone to partake in a kidnapping, but not an assassination.

“What’s the worst that could happen?”

;)

No foreign country gives a shit about Haiti. There's nothing to gain. States don't run ops for no gain.

Gotta be cartel or internal.

Let's just be clear here about how useless Haiti is on the geopolitical landscape. If a political group took over Haiti and disposed of all the inhabitants and used every ounce of natural resource on the island, they would still accomplish nothing.

No one wants control of Haiti.

Cartel or internal.

There are actually some untapped gold on Haiti, so there's that. And on the other side of the border they have managed to get a quite lucrative gold mining operation (for the mining conglomerates at least) over in the Dominican Republic.

I'm glad to hear that, for Haiti, but it doesn't change reality today. Haiti has a GDP/cap around 5 dollars and no foreign country wants anything to do with that. Haiti can't help anyone, state-wise.
