Although Chuck Hagel stopped just short of saying the "I" word in regards to Bush, he DID say the following on This Week:

The president says, 'I don't care.' He's not accountable anymore. He's not accountable anymore, which isn't totally true. You can impeach him, and before this is over, you might see calls for his impeachment. I don't know. It depends how this goes.

Pretty strong words from a Republican, wouldn't you think? Bush had better watch his step. With almost 2 years to go in his presidency, impeachment is actually getting closer to being doable with each and every passing day.

Article is here.

I'd support impeachment. I am sick and tired of Bush's attitude. Frank Rich did a beautiful description of comparing Bush's attitude towards the war that he started and towards his Attorney General.

On Monday morning [Bush] observed the Iraq war’s fourth anniversary with a sullen stay-the-course peroration so perfunctory he seemed to sleepwalk through its smorgasbord of recycled half-truths (Iraqi leaders are “beginning to meet the benchmarks”) and boilerplate (“There will be good days, and there will be bad days”). But at a press conference the next day to defend his attorney general, the president was back in the saddle, guns blazing, Mr. Bring ’Em On reborn. He vowed to vanquish his Democratic antagonists much as he once, so very long ago, pledged to make short work of insurgents in Iraq.

The Jekyll-and-Hyde contrast between these two performances couldn’t be a more dramatic indicator of Mr. Bush’s priorities in his presidency’s endgame. His passion for protecting his power and his courtiers far exceeds his passion for protecting the troops he’s pouring into Iraq’s civil war.

George Bush is such a shmuck.

I wonder what it must be like to have such spite for your leader. It must be depressing.

Just ask some of your buddies about investigating a blowjob with Clinton. That was real hatred there.

My guess is that FreeThinker is talking from his own experience with Clinton. LOL

Its frustrating, but its encouraging because with the upcoming election there is optimism that America might be restored....in any event, we can't do any worse than the current clown.

The best part of Hagel's comments was when he was telling Bush that this isn't a Monarchy. It becomes more and more apparent everyday that Bush believes that he is King and accountable to no one.

lol, I can't wait to hear all the Hagel bashing here in NE for the next month. What's funny is all these people who bitch about partisan are the people who, when one of their people disagrees with their party, are the first to call them traitors. Oh yes, all the staunch Republicans here just hate Hagel because he actually speaks up against his party. I am starting to like him more and more.

This is the type of person we need, moderates who can speak up against the wrong they see within.

The spite you are talking about is not spite of the American people for their leader, but the spite of the president for the people, the Constitution, and the rule of law. The fact that even members of his own party are willing to consider impeachment speaks volumes.

Okay, let's say that the House of Representatives actually start Impeachment of President Bush, what's the consequences... and this is just some, I'm sure that there are political hacks on both sides that can up the rhetoric on this, but this is about as emotionless as it can get... so,

Congress then does NOTHING else pretty much until the whole thing is resolved, which I have no idea how long the whole process would take. It would make the divide in this country wider, increase the animosity among Americans MORE and the parties would try and destroy the other even more...

I don't believe that the whole process would come to Impeaching the President, but let's say it does... Is there a chance that the Senate convicts him? Probably not... But, let's say they do... what's the result?

President Dick Cheney... someone who more people dislike significantly worse than President Bush...

So, what's the point of all this. The Democrat Party impeaches the President and gets someone else in office that they hate worse... If this whole talk was a Chess match, the pro-impeachers would get mated pretty quickly...

I suspect impeachment, if it is to come, will come at the end of Bush's term(along with all these withdrawal bills), so it can go on record but won't have the affect of Cheney running things should Bush be convicted and removed, and to do some damage to the republican ticket. its all about the elections with both those parties...

Stuff like this would energize the base of both parties, but I don't believe it'd do much for the general American public. If you can give them enough credit for really disliking the negative tone in Washington, it could backfire on the Democrat party. I think they dislike the Iraq war, but they're tired of the tone up there, as well as NOTHING worthwhile getting done. But hey, I'm not a paid political operative, what do I know?

Well, I think politics in this country are in the toilet, and its hard for anyone, even intelligent people to discern which politician is going to screw us the least.

Thats probably the one smart thing that King George has done, put someone who is worse under him to shield him from impeachment. Though I suspect that if King George were ever impeached....Cheney would be quick to follow.

"King George"? you've found a cute little saying and using it for all it's worth, aren't you? LOL

Certainly, you wouldn't be advocating a coup d' etat would you? Because impeaching Bush & Cheney in quick succession? That's what it would amount to....

Actually, they could impeach both Bush and Cheney, then we would end up with.........

President Pelosi. Yeeeechhhhhhhh !!!!! I think Bush is probably safe. LOL.

This is the voice of the 20 to 25% of the people. The hard core team players on the Conservative side. The Left has about the same amount of so-called "team players" and this has been part of the process for decades. But politics is not about the team. There is no place in politics for "die-hard Cob's fan". It's about what's best for the nation and not any team. The Bush administration has dropped to the bottom of the pile. Many conservatives and stalwart Republicans are backing away from this administration in order to keep the party from disintegrating as the Dems did before.

Impeachment will do no more here than it did to Clinton unless the war sudden goes even further south and casualties rise to an unprecedented level and that is on the verge of impossible. The thing here is to limit the power of this administration as much as possible but i don't believe impeachment would be all that much help, if any.

Impeachment on grounds of his attitude? ;)

LOL Yes. What's wrong with that? ;)

Well, I'm not sure he can be impeached, but damn, they have a strong case for impearment! :-)

Heck, why not just send him to a corner and deny him recess (vacation)? That would be cool!

Just ask some of your buddies about investigating a blowjob with Clinton. That was real hatred there.

If I got caught ****ing my secretary in the office I would be fired and possibly sued, especially if I lied about it.

Professional ethics? Hi. He's the president.

You talk of the possibility of impeachment when the last democrat in office WAS impeached.

Are you angry at republicans, or just angry at the system?
