Republicans quickly tried to change the subject from their immigration cut and run to the Democrats' cut and run on Iraq. House Majority Leader John Boehner (Ohio) held a news conference and declared that Democrats have "no plan at all to confront the real threat of terrorism and to achieve victory in a global war on terror."

But David Rogers, a Wall Street Journal reporter and Vietnam veteran, had prepared an ambush for Boehner. "In Vietnam, they used to put us out in these fire support bases and hope we would get attacked," he said. "Is that what you are doing? You are putting people in Iraq and hoping they get attacked so you can bring out the terrorists?"

"No, no," Boehner protested.

What makes me sick is this allegation that the war in Iraq was started due to a "real threat of terrorism." Oh really? Where are the weapons of mass destruction? When did Saddam Hussein threaten to use them on us? Oh, and the insugents--when did they arrive in Iraq? Wasn't it after we invaded?

Do the Republicans genuinely think that the public is buying this? Shall we talk about the Dept. of Homeland Security and how unprepared we are for another terrorist attack?

As always, Aps...I agree completely.

I was watching the Daily Show with Jon Stewart the other night, and he had clips of republican members of congress comparing Iraq to a football game. "We must play away games against terrorism, rather then the home games the liberals want us to play."

When did war become a sporting event? It's amazing some of these reps are elected?

It truly is amazing. I used to have a B.S. radar. The last few years have overloaded the sensors and it is beyond repair. :rofl

That's because for most of the Chickenhawk Republicans, it IS a game. They have never been under gunfire (unless their limo made a wrong turn after dark there in SE DC). None of their children are serving their country overseas. If we started drafting the children of the rich, starting with the richest on down, I assure you that before Warren Buffet's kids make it to boot camp, this war would be over. The twins would never step through the gates of Camp Pendleton except te entertain the troops with a drunken striptease.

So this is an excellent question to put to whatever representative is up for re-election in your area.
But do not expect to get a reply.
In fact the only response you would get if you asked this question in person, would be to be strong armed out of the meeting.

That was a great montage on the Daily Show. Rovian talking points in action.

How many wars have only been fought on one front?
It was 8 years between WTC 1 and 9/11.
