This is how it was done in America for 90% of its history until the sissies showed up.

You would think that in a country with over 300 million firearms it would behoove schools to teach children firearm safety. With over 300 million firearms in the US in the hands of 70-80 million firearm owners there is a pretty good chance that little Timmy or Suzie is going to come across a firearm. We tell kids not to run with scissors, not to talk to strangers, don't do drugs, sex ed and so on. So why not firearm safety classes, why not don't point firearms at people, tell an adult if you see an unsecured firearm and so on coloring pages and public service messages?

I do believe that this would just be a fantastic idea today in America. The more kids know about guns and how to handle them, the better off the country will be in the long run.

Well....they kind of teach firearm safety. I mean, as long as you count freak out, call the cops and barricade yourself in a closet all while being expelled because you saw a gun as being "safety".

The reason we won't see this today is simple. The goal of the anti-gun crowd isn't gun safety, it's gun removal. In fact the more people, especially children who are killed is just one more step toward their ultimate goal. You cannot have these results if you teach gun safety.

Pushing for the return of what the Civilian Marksmanship Program was in the 60's after the Korean war is a worthy cause and the best part is it increases the number of good people with guns and infuriates the anti's. A win win.
