With constitutional carry in texas I like to carry around what I call the enforcer, it is a cap and ball conversion to .45 colt, perfectly legal though by federal standards it counts similar to an 80% ar reciever, ie I can not sell it legally but can own it since I modified it for cartridge use by grinding in a loading notch into the reciever frame. I was never going to sell it anyways but it is a pain to carry around everywhere, I believe it was the 8 inch barrel, and the leather holster for it is fairly big.

I have a 22lr heritage revolver, it is not what I call the enforcer but the fun maker, because no matter where I take it target shooting everyone wants to shoot it, men women and children, it is a fun gun, and the size is easy to carry but being 22lr or 22 magnum depending on the cylinder is a little lacking for what I want.

So I thought well I have a taurus pt92, it is reliable to hell and back, has an 18 round mag and will feed even the cheapest garbage russian made steel cased ammo without a hiccup. Problem is I do not have a holster for it, and finding a holster for it has been a nightmare. The only one I found to fit my needs is the allen plain leather universal holsters, which almost no one stocks and are on constant clearance like they want them gone!

I went to academy and nearly every holster there was focused on conceal carry in underwear, bra's, ass cheaks, you name it a million ways to hide a gun where the average person will never want to touch it after they had known where it had been. But in terms of plain hip holsters I asked and they seemed confused like they could not understand why I did not want a tacticool hidden holster but wanted a plain belt holster.

I have to carry a knife on my belt all the time, I can work with that, but I have to get in and out of customer cars, work under the hood, under the car etc, and it seems what I am comfortable using has been hard to find. Also there are plenty of m9 drop down holsters at surplus stores that fit the pt92 as it is just the taurus made m9, but I hated the crap out of those in the army and will not use one.

If anyone has any simple low profile belt holster suggestions or simply wants to gripe praise whatever other holsters feel free.

I carry an H&K VP9 full size year round, mostly in an inside the waistband holster. I also use outside the waistband in winter and also a Galco Miami Classic shoulder holster if I'm wearing a dress jacket.

I love my Alien Gear stuff, Cloak-Tuck inside the waistband for everyday especially in summer and a chest rig when I'm out bike riding or hiking or fishing.

Here's the Taurus PT92 page:

Ive used Yaqui slides for everything from my Highway Patrolman, to my Glocks, to my Ruger 45. Never had a problem finding what i needed locally but you can always check out the Galco site.

If you're looking for open carry, I'd suggest full Kydex with at least level 1 retention.

The style holster you mentioned is more along the lines of what I am looking for. I recently literally yesterday ordered an allen medium generic holster, as they seem to be getting scarce, but they are similar in design to the holsters you mentioned, just much more cheaply made and less elegant.

I will keep that brand in mind if I choose to upgrade past the generic allen, as allen seems to be fading away due to tacticool being the rage, and yaqui seems to make the lower profile basic holsters I crave.

I have two holsters. Neither are low-profile or made to be easily concealed. Both are also made by Bianchi.

I use the Bianchi #4001 Cyclone I for my Ruger Super Redhawk .44 Mag. with its 7.5" barrel; and
I use the Bianchi International #G100 General Officer's Model for my Beretta 92FS.

I use to also have a chest holster from the days when I had a 2x scope on the .44, but when I got rid of the scope (great for target practice, not so good for hunting) I also got rid of the chest holster. So I don't recall the manufacturer, but if I had to guess, it was probably Bianchi.

My holsters are also 30+ years old, and still very much in use (the .44, not the 9mm so much). To me that says a lot about quality.

It shouldn't be too difficult to find a holster for a gun that's a copy of a Beretta 92.
