With constitutional carry in texas I like to carry around what I call the enforcer, it is a cap and ball conversion to .45 colt, perfectly legal though by federal standards it counts similar to an 80% ar reciever, ie I can not sell it legally but can own it since I modified it for cartridge use by grinding in a loading notch into the reciever frame. I was never going to sell it anyways but it is a pain to carry around everywhere, I believe it was the 8 inch barrel, and the leather holster for it is fairly big.
I have a 22lr heritage revolver, it is not what I call the enforcer but the fun maker, because no matter where I take it target shooting everyone wants to shoot it, men women and children, it is a fun gun, and the size is easy to carry but being 22lr or 22 magnum depending on the cylinder is a little lacking for what I want.
So I thought well I have a taurus pt92, it is reliable to hell and back, has an 18 round mag and will feed even the cheapest garbage russian made steel cased ammo without a hiccup. Problem is I do not have a holster for it, and finding a holster for it has been a nightmare. The only one I found to fit my needs is the allen plain leather universal holsters, which almost no one stocks and are on constant clearance like they want them gone!
I went to academy and nearly every holster there was focused on conceal carry in underwear, bra's, ass cheaks, you name it a million ways to hide a gun where the average person will never want to touch it after they had known where it had been. But in terms of plain hip holsters I asked and they seemed confused like they could not understand why I did not want a tacticool hidden holster but wanted a plain belt holster.
I have to carry a knife on my belt all the time, I can work with that, but I have to get in and out of customer cars, work under the hood, under the car etc, and it seems what I am comfortable using has been hard to find. Also there are plenty of m9 drop down holsters at surplus stores that fit the pt92 as it is just the taurus made m9, but I hated the crap out of those in the army and will not use one.
If anyone has any simple low profile belt holster suggestions or simply wants to gripe praise whatever other holsters feel free.
