Guess who replaced Robert Novak at CNN?

We're in agreement then. . .the only problem is that the major corporations have money that they can use to advertise and draw people into watching them.

Is that what really draws you into watching a particular news network, the advertising? How about because you find the give you a balance and accurate reproting of the news and both sides of the political side of the news along with interesting intelligent and reasonable debate over the issues?

The only thing that would protect this is state intervention which could be as bad, if not worse,

Protect what from what?

then corporations running news stations.

They are run by corporations, news corporations.

Radio is some different. A radio station that leans left appeals to one group of advertisers and tries not to tick them off, but most 'liberal' radio has so few listeners that it can't make it without government subsidies or contributions. Most successful radio these days tilts right as right leaning listeners were hungry for an outlet friendlier to them and that bumped up the demographics to be appealing to advertisers.

Have you heard ORielly saying that his sources tell him that Air America is actaully paying stations in major cities to broadcast them? And of course if it weren't for some wealthy fat cats subsidizing them, along with Boys Club loans they would be belly up, and Franken has the gual to take over $2,000,000 when anyone else with his audience size would be lucky to make a bare $100,000.

I wish there were liberal talk shows that offered something more than Bush is Stupid and Bush lied rhetoric. But it's not on Air America.

[/LIST]It appears that CNN has joined FOX News in a race to see who is first to get to the bottom of the septic tank.

That's precisely why Air America isn't making it. Even the most idiot flaming radical liberal gets bored hearing nothing but various ways to say f**k Bush or some other Republican in the news that day. And without a reliable listener base, advertisers aren't interested no matter what you're broadcasting.

Conservative talk radio is admittedly and unashamedly rightwing biased, and it does its share of liberal bashing and criticism. But anybody with ears to hear will also hear ideas, concepts, and conservatives values discussed, bits of history and the origins and underlying basis for various issues. And that keeps it interesting. If it was nothing but liberal bashing it too would be tedious and boring after a short time.

Novak had become tiresome and it was time for him to leave CNN I think. Whether he'll be able to generate a spark at Fox remains to be seen. But he was able to express conservative ideas on a definitely left wing tilted news organization without being unduly obvious and offensive about it, and if CNN is smart they'll pick somebody like that to replace him. CNN can't make it either without throwing the conservatives a few bones here and there and so far they've been able to do that.
