Merida, May 13, 2019 (venezuelanalysis.com) – Self-declared “Interim President” Juan Guaido has ordered the setting up of a meeting with the US Armed Forces to discuss “cooperation” in his efforts to oust President Nicolas Maduro.

During a gathering of supporters in the upper middle class Caracas district of Las Mercedes on Saturday, Guaido informed that he was instructing his representative in the United States, Carlos Vecchio, to establish a “direct relationship” with the US Southern Command (SouthCom), which plans, oversees, and controls all US overt and covert military operations in Latin America and the Caribbean.

I can only imagine the reaction in the US had Hillary Clinton lost the election to Trump and then declared herself president , running around the country trying to foment a violent overthrow of the government and then openly seeking to cooperate with the Russian military to further that aim

except the election wasnt legitimate and virtually every first world nation has chosen to not recognize the results. When only the "axis of evil" supports the results you know you are on the wrong side

Just regurgitating sound bites from your own propaganda system without any critical thought just doesn't cut it with me brother

Look at your own elections and how many people get bumped off the vote in them on dubious grounds such as cross referencing and alleged felonies. Did Jeb not do George a big favour by bumping off the register all of those black Floridians ? Ever read "Armed Madhouse " by Greg Palast ?

And who is " evil " ? Ask yourself that.

Your own country has troops illegally in Syria , is threatening Iran and Venezuela with it's military . Has **** up ,completely , the lives of people in Iraq, Afghanistan , Libya

You are not even in a position to throw stones

Most Venezuelans appear to be against a US military intervention , so if you care about democracy ( not that I think you do ) you should respect their wishes

We already knew that.

Of all the many times that the United States has militarily intervened against the government's of Latin American countries, not once have they ever succeeded in making the situation better than it was before. In fact it usually becomes worse. This will be no different. Americans don't play kingmaker for the sake of starving Venezuelans, but for the sake of their own power and influence.

which international body has deemed the venezuelan election illegitimate?

The 2018 election?

The European Union, the Organization of American States, the Lima Group (representing Argentina, Brazil, Canada, Chile, Colombia, Costa Rica, Guatemala, Honduras, Mexico, Panama, Paraguay, Peru, Guyana and Saint Lucia), Australia, the United States and others.

which international body has deemed the venezuelan election illegitimate?

The UN human rights commissioner said this about the election, "this does not in any way fulfill minimal conditions for free and credible elections"

Yes, the Venezuelan people want Maduro gone. Funny how you seem desperate to ignore that fact.

if that were actually true, then why did they only recently elect him with 2/3 of the votes rather than the other candidates

Funny how much of a mandate one can grant oneself when one has gangs of thugs willing to machine gun anyone who votes the "wrong" way.

But hey, maybe the people of Venezuela enjoy not having any basic necessities like food or toilet paper due to Maduro's stupidity

2/3 of the voters voted for the venezuelan the USA government seeks to replace
after an election the UN declined to attend/monitor

Refer to post #9
Antigua and Barbuda, Belarus, Bolivia, China, Cuba, Dominica, Egypt, El Salvador, Iran, North Korea, South Africa, Russia, Saint Vincent and the Grenadines, Syria, Turkey (the only NATO member), Vietnam and the disputed state of the Saharawi Arab Democratic Republic (Western Sahara) recognized the election result

... Maduro had received more than 5.8m votes compared to the 1.8m of his nearest rival, Henri Falcón ...

Again.....amazing how big of a mandate you can give yourself when you have thugs to "handle" anyone who votes the "wrong" way.

2/3 of the voters believe they elected the right person
why are you opposed to democracy

2/3rds of the people decided that it wasn't worth ending up in a dungeon to take a stand in a rigged election.

Why do you support starvation.

You are not supposed to tell such truths here :)

There are many that believe the US government and the elites that it serves actually care for the plight of Venezuelans , Nicaraguans , Guatemalans , Chileans , Panamanians, Salvadoreans , Argentinians etc etc........... they just ignore the crimes of the death squad / human rights violation governments they install there and support elsewhere around the globe.

The Venezuelans should be able to sort themselves out with the majority of the country NOT wanting outside military forces to interfere regardless of who they prefer to run the country. That Guaido is disregarding this , seeing as I can't believe he is unaware of the sentiment , and seeking to **** on Venezuelan democratic preferences to use the US or other foreign fighters to ride into power shows his contempt for democracy, as we already knew when he never contested the election and after it ( and a phone call from the US ) declared himself president of the country no less

How people here can still support this US puppet and use the plight of the Venezuelan people as an excuse for it , whilst completely disregarding their feelings about foreign intervention , only shows their own lack of integrity and awareness of the historical record that you have referred to

BTW _ Your source is suspect.

Says the man that uses CAMERA , MEMRI , the IDF blog etc etc

Your entire commentary here is suspect and just sounds like it falls out of the state department offices regardless of what is under discussion

You only want to see anti Maduro sources being referred to because you have this penchant for echo chambers that confirm your biases. Makes me wonder why you joined a debate forum in the first place

I know , so what ?

Look at the US MSM coverage of this affair and see that they spout the pro government view for free because they are corporate owned

What you are complaining about is a standard feature of virtually every one of your own posts/thread starters.

You are complaining about people hearing/reading the other side of the story

So Venezuelans want Maduro out...

We already knew that.

Some do and some don't

What they don't want , regardless of who they support , is the US or anyone else threatening to or carrying out an intervention. You and others here seem to want to ignore that whilst waxing lyrical about democracy and the wishes of the Venezuelan people in an obviously hypocritical/arrogant way
