Down to 39% from 54%. Still more approval from black Americans, but even that’s down.

Good way to fix a problem you don't approve of: fix the root cause.

There’d have to be agreement as to what that “root cause” is, Nate. The reality is that police aren’t killing black people for the color of their skin and it’s frustrating to see that lie persist. Let’s look at the Breonna Taylor case and the false narratives that continue to be pushed. Police were executing a warrant at the address on the warrant. Yes, it was no knock but they did knock (more like pounded, I’m sure) and announced, they were fired upon and they shot back. How is that targeting someone because she’s black? If cops just wanted to kill black people, why didn’t they kill the guy that shot at them? He gave them the perfect excuse.

To be clear, I don’t think Breonna Taylor “deserved” to die, but she wasn’t executed, she was caught in the middle of a shoot out with police and was shot and, tragically, killed.

Ask them if they approve of police killing the girlfriends of falsely accused suspects while they sleep in their beds. Do you approve of those killings?

She wasn’t asleep in her bed. If you have to lie to support your position, maybe you should rethink it.

it is hilarious that people that are in these crime ridden neighborhoods want the police. They disagree with BLM.
they are running BLM groups out of their neighborhoods.

The reality is that many of the people who claim all this concern for minorities are making things worse for them.

So you approve of the killing. That's good to know...and, not at all surprising.

Maybe you could share how to fix the root problem of misinformation from the MSM.
The latest Breonna Taylor death is a great example, the police were attempting an arrest warrant on two drug dealers, one of the occupants started shooting at the police and one was hit during the gunfire exchange as was she.
The MSM version is about as skewered as it gets, it go’s as far with suggesting the police assassinated this woman as she slept in bed because she is black. Regardless of what political planet you live on, this narrative is so very wrong and can only be seen as a purposeful want for unrest.

The warrant was bogus and no charges were ever filed against this so-called drug dealer. But, hey. Who cares. right.? It's just a dead black chick.

Just a point on logic. Some are claiming that the Police deliberately shot Breonna Taylor because she was black. Well, from the reports I've read, the bullets came flying out of the residence, at the police, through the shut door. The Police returned fire through the shut door. The police could not have deliberately shot Breonna because she was black, because they were firing through a closed door, and could not see who they were shooting at, to determine the target's skin color. They were simply shooting at an unknown source of incoming gunfire.

Given that situation, it was IMPOSSIBLE to target Breonna for her skin tone. She could not be seen.

And what kind of boyfriend hides behind the girl to shoot at the cops anyway?

The problem has been all along the idiot leftist promotion of a false and corrupt narrative. That coupled with populist rat politicians that have been feeding the flames and you have riots and violence that ultimately ends up hurting more black Americans than helping them.

There was never a problem with 'the cops'. Claiming there is is as ignorant as claiming we have a problem with 'the blacks' because some black people commit rapes robberies and murder. We DO have SOME problems in SOME of our major city police operations. The reality is that it is the same people shitting themsleves and screaming the loudest about those police operations that vote for and support the leaders in those cities that CREATE those policing policies. Thats how stupid this has all become. Add to the mix that you then had idiot leftists all across the country starting riots and committing acts of vilence in cities that literally have no reord or history of abusive policing policies and you can start to see just how stupid the last several months have been and who has been responsible for it.

There's no justification for the riots.
There is justification for the protests though. You do know there's a difference, right? Or do you just not care to know?

- Choke holds and knee restraints on handcuffed suspects are still not banned nationwide.
- No-knock raids are still not banned nationwide.
- Body cams and dash cams are still not mandatory nationwide.
- Qualified Immunity has still not been overhauled.
- An independent misconduct review board has still not been implemented.
- Better training in de-escalation techniques and dealing with the mentally ill has still not been implemented.
- The ignorant, harmful, and Unconstitutional Federal drug laws have still not been repealed.

Everyone is attacking or defending individual cops, while the ignorant policies which continue to put them into unwinnable situations to begin with are not being discussed by anyone, let alone by our ignorant and incompetent government leadership.

This has been "the problem all along", at least the way I see it:

Unless you are proposing a national police force (and that thought ashould make people shudder) then the responsibility for whatever effective policing policies and changes need to be made become state and local issues. While I agree with at least some of your proposals on changes, I suspect we differ on who is responsible for the 'fix'.

If stupid policies prevent smart policies from being implemented, then the root of the problem is pretty obvious, isn't it?

What has become weird to me as I've debated this is why the racism piece is important at all. It's not necessarily the root cause. Inappropriate use of violence on the part of police is the problem here, who cares what the motivation is, and who cares what race it's aimed at? If all lives truly mattered, then why does this have to be a race based discussion? Yes, yes, I know, #BLM....but we can have this discussion without them, and we still find the there is a problem of inappropriate force being used by cops. I promise you, if you fix that generally, all the black-specific stuff goes away.

Apply this logic to anything else. Let's take a car...you buy a car, you expect it to operate as advertised. If it turns out to be a lemon, you don't care if the guy working on the line that bungled it is a racist, or a communist, or whatever. You just want the car fixed. If you're attempting to fix the problem in the plant, you don't care why the guy made the mistake. You either fix your process, or fire the guy if it fails to improve. And if that lemon of a car results in the death of one of your family, you're going after the manufacturer for everything you can get.

Why different with cops? You pay for them too...

It's important to acknowledge and defeat racism for all kinds of reasons, in all sorts of conversations. But it's not vital to this one. If #AllLivesMatter is actually a thing, that is......

Fix the root problem of misinformation from the MSM? But we're talking about the root problem of inappropriate police violence. I think you might be in the wrong thread.

If stupid policies prevent smart policies from being implemented, then the root of the problem is pretty obvious, isn't it?
Sure. The people responsible for those policies should either be replaced or make better policies.

Every Community should have a viable Citizen Commission to investigate police actions and budgets.

I get it, you are conditioned to believe the bias with the MSM and twitter feeds, Funny thing though, all too often the truth comes out and there’s never a peep from the most vocal.
