Paul Russell: A not-so-warm welcome for John Greyson and Tarek Loubani | National Post

It's time those that dare 'sow the wind the reap the whirlwind'.

Time and again common sense is ignored and those like these two find themselves in dangerous position by their own misadventure. Fools would venture to a place of riot then complain and expect sympathy and rescue. If Hamas had a say the gay Greyson would be killed, yet they seemed determined to confront the devil.

Excerpt.
“I’m wondering if Canadian taxpayers will pay their expenses and their flight home,” mused Michael Devolin. “If these two want adventure in the Muslim Middle East, let them pay their own way. Don’t send the bill to regular Canadians.”

Many readers wondered why Mr. Greyson, an openly gay man, would travel to Egypt, en route to the Gaza Strip — since gays face serious persecution in both areas.

“What’s he doing going to Gaza where gays are publicly executed by Hamas?” asked Felix Golubev. “Does he know that Israel is the only country in the Middle East that respects gay rights? Of course he knows, but when it comes to hating Israel, all barriers go down, and he is no exception.”

Many readers noted Mr. Greyson’s anti-Israeli activities here in Canada, as a leader of Queers Against Israeli Apartheid or as a filmmaker (in 2009, he withdrew his film from the Toronto International Film Festival because Israeli films were also going to be screened there).

We often have the same problem in the United States.

Because Democrats are desperate for votes and government dependents, obtaining American citizenship is now easier than getting a driver's license and foreigners often attempt to gain attention for their causes by becoming American citizens and then traveling to their target country, getting arrested and then shrieking "Americans arrested by bastards!" Or somebody.

Not by any stretch are the Liberal beloved "American citizens" Americans and no one but the MSM pays any attention to their nonsense.

I don't accept a Canadian leaving to fight for 'their' other country, particularly one where our military are involved, or, where NATO or UN troops will be their targets. To me those are quite simply traitors.

Sounds like Greyson might be a stupid douche.

I'm quite tired of people, some born Canadian others acquiring citizenship later in life, travelling to dangerous areas of the world and then pleading innocence or persecution and wanting the Canadian government and others to save their asses. It's similar to all the Canadian/Syrian dual citizenship fools who went to Syria at the time the opposition was starting to ramp up and then the Canadian government having to send naval resources to the Mediterranean to "rescue" them.

For me, part of gaining citizenship in Canada for people emigrating from danger and/or prejudice in their home country should be the requirement that you do not travel to that dangerous/prejudicial country once you gain Canadian citizenship. If you do, you give up your Canadian citizenship, you're on your own, and if you come back to Canada you're at the end of the line for regaining Canadian citizenship.

There are thousands, tens of thousands, of people claiming refugee status in Canada from places like Egypt, Palestine, Syria, Sri Lanka, Pakistan, etc., claiming that if they're sent back they will be jailed and persecuted, but as soon as they get their Canadian citizenship they're on a plane back to hell to show off their new citizenship, recruit others to bring their disputes to Canada with them, and then cry for Canadian assistance when they get in trouble. Far as I'm concerned, if you go back and get in trouble, figure it out yourself or rot in prison and think about the great opportunity in Canada you were given that you pissed away.

Oh so true, and we the taxpayers are the goats. I stress the need for more vetting, more due diligence in approving refugee claims and immigrant applications. Once they're 'in', we're stuck.

You could just tack on another limit to mobility rights.
