After a lively chat with my Wifes American family tonight I want to hear what you think is the greatest military tune? For me its easy its the "The British Grenadiers".

Arguing with an American about greatest military tunes... that's like arguing with a Liverpool fan.

I have to go with The Halls of Montezuma. The Army Song sucks; the lyrics at least. Anchors Away is a good song as well as She Wore a Yellow Ribbon.

If I had to pick "military songs" as in pop songs and not marches, I would have a hard time picking between these three:

Sure I like some of the traditional. Although I think there are some Pop and rock ones that will be great or become the greatest. Even other music genres.

I think this one will become a greatest. Everlast.....Letters Home.

Gap Band.....You Dropped a Bomb On Me.

I always did like my Cuzins Song.....The Warrior Song - US Marine Corp.....Hard-Corp. Hoorah!

I really like the Ballad of the Green Beret, but I agree with Luther that The Battle Hymn of the Republic is hands down my favorite.

LOL, and just to break with the PC trend of everyone only choosing their own national military music, I have to say that I really like The Battle Hymn of the Republic, a number of Souza marches (Stars & Stripes Forever, etc.), and the very politically incorrect Horst Wessel Lied (which is rather creepily similar to the hymn How Great Thou Art). ;)
