This week marks the 50th anniversary of the release of 'Revolver', in my opinion the greatest album of the rock era. Others?

Studio:

Pink Floyd, Animals

Beatles, White Album

Led Zepplin I

Live:

Led Zep, Song Remains the Same

Doors, Absolutely Live

Rush, All the World's a Stage

Nothing compares to "Aquarium" by "Aqua"

This brave album pushed all boundaries of musical quality like no album before it.

The highlight of course being "Barbie Girl".

The deep social undertones, particularly my favorite line "Life in plastic, it's fantastic", hearkens to the sudden availability of cheap credit to the masses, leading to an uptick in living standards as extremely high end consumer goods became available to people who otherwise couldn't afford it before.

If you're looking for a riveting and deep experience, this journey through the soul in musical form will rock your world.

Rush, Farewell to Kings.

Turn Back Time from that album was their best ever.

Tommy - The Who

I second the vote for Carole King's Tapestry

DSOTM- Pink Floyd
Live at the Fillmore East - Allman Bros.
The James Gang Rides Again
Music From Big Pink - The Band
Who's Next - The Who

Hard Days Night

The Beatles in the eye of the hurricane and the white noise that followed them everywhere. This is when they became legendary, imo. This is what gave them the ability to do Rubber Soul and all of the cool concept albums and out of the box stuff after.

Let me also add:
Hotel California - Eagles
Ziggy Stardust - David Bowie
Truth - Jeff Beck

Achtung Baby is U2, and it's great, but I also loved Rattle and Hum. Joshua Tree is horribly overrated.
