Great White Hope Ron DeSantis leads a Red Paint Party in Florida!

I never have thought of Florida as a battle ground state, but consistently going right for decades now. It comes as no shock to me that DeSantis won.

And in a very real way, I feel bad for the state: they got a guy who has done the things that they afraid of…and they don’t know it.

With the whole Disney debacle, he proved to be a socialist. With wokeness, he simply switched the POV and became the grand vizier of conservative wokeness. With freedoms, he has been taking them away in the name of freedom. He used cancel culture…something the right professes to hate…to cancel the naysayers.

But hey, you get what you vote for, right? In this case the state of Florida has made their fears come true…and they will soon realize it….
I don’t accept the argument that revoking the laws allowing Disney to basically set up local governments owned by them and pay taxes to themselves while zoning competing businesses away from the park. It is socialism in Anaheim, California because Disney doesn’t control the city and can’t use zoning and local government powers to prevent competition?

I was using voice to text and I think my phone turned Orlando into Atlanta.

But still, Tampa is where I am leaning if we relocate to Florida.

A relative of mine worked at Cape Canevral during the 90s and I have fond memories of visiting Titusville as a child, but that’s the only place in Florida I’ve actually been to
If you move to Tampa Bay Area, in spite of our respective reputations and different political ideologies, I would hope we could get together for at least one photo op.

Last time I visited Southern CA, I met up with @Checkerboard Strangler for lunch at Nixon’s Steakhouse in downtown Whittier. Fun!

@ecofarm spent a holiday weekend with me last year and helped me celebrate my 65th birthday. My wife hired musicians and bought food for 100. Hoping to host Dr. Eco again really soon!

Isn’t Florida gerrymandered all to hell by republicans?

Did he get more votes or just more districts due to gerrymandering.

Politicians should not be picking their voters.

Either side.
If you go back to my OP in this thread and open up my quote, you can find a link to an article that details how DeSantis hijacked the redistricting process. Pretty sure, after yesterday’s election, Florida only has two Black U.S. Representatives.

You might remember Rep. Frederica Wilson(D), known for her colorful hats and for feuding with Trump over his remarks to the widow of a fallen soldier. DeSantis does not like her! He likes the other Black U.S. Rep., Byron Donalds(R).

You are correct. It was just the house seats they picked the voters for.
Team DeSantis drew up 120 state house districts, 40 state senate districts and 28 Florida-based U.S House of Representatives districts.

DeSantis appointed 4 out of 7 of Florida’s Supreme Court justices. Charlie Crist, as the Republican governor before Rick Scott, appointed the other 3.

Well I’ve long wanted to visit Tampa so I’ll let you know if we ever visit.

Let me know if you ever visit the southland again, we don’t go to Whittier much but the Mrs and I would be happy to take you out, either to our favorite nice place in Manhattan beach, or if you want the best Mexican food we can do that too, although if you want the best Mexican food be ready to go to neighborhoods where all the windows have bars on them 😉

Florida has more registered DEMs than Republicans? Really? You might gain credibility if you did research before posting your misconceptions.

I first registered to vote in Florida in 1974. I still vote in Florida. I provided ample linked sources with my post.

You beat me to it. But truth was never really one of their strong points. Think of the people moving to FL, in general they hate taxes and restrictions on their privilege.

They hate huge taxes paid to finance leftist patronage networks. Florida has a larger population than New York yet far fewer state employees. Leftist states like New York and my home state of Washington have large numbers of unnecessary state workers who are largely loyal democrat party clients. It’s not like taxes go to the roads.

DeSantis has no charisma. He can't win the presidency without charisma.

DeSantis is brilliant in a scary way. While Trump is like an elephant in the room, Ron is more like a snake, very strategic. Someone to be aware of for sure.
As an aside, I hope the storm won't do too much damage.

"I tell you if you have a problem figuring out whether you're for me or Trump, then you ain't black," Joe Biden

Competence was on the ballot in Florida not race.
What does this mean? Is there a point?

I just saw black helicopters circling your house...

Didn't publish yet, but I know you're being kind.

DEMs woke up to a bearable national political landscape. Thank God!

Meanwhile, in my home state of Florida, Gov. Ron DeSantis(R) led a red paint party. Obama won the state in 2008 and 2012. Trump won the state in 2016 and 2020. No longer can we consider Florida a battle ground state. Give the Anti-woke Florida governor his props!

The GOP won every statewide race decisively, average margin of victory in the neighborhood of 20-points.

The State Senate changed from 24(R) - 16(D) to 28(R) - 12(D).

The State House changed from 78(R) - 42(D) to 84(R) - 36(D).

Florida gained one U.S. Rep seat from 27 to 28. Composition changed from 16(R) - 11(D) to 20(R) - 8(D).

DeSantis has his eye on the 2024 POTUS race. He has to hope circumstances (maybe indictment, health, loss of popularity) derail Trump. DeSantis has California Gov. Gavin Newsom in his sights as a possible general election opponent.

DeSantis has assured me and millions of Floridians that he has increased our freedoms and our business vitality. He has told us to not worry about Covid. He has made it clear we must not question him and we must leave Wokeness (activism and governing) to him, his legislature, his appointees and his personal police force, or face severe consequences. Mess with Ron DeSantis at your peril! Ask Disney. Ask whistle blower former Florida Department of Health geographer Rebekah D. Jones. Ask suspended Tampa-based elected State Attorney Andrew Warren.

DeSantis likes Black Folks as long as they whistle the right tune, wink wink, know what I mean?
Florida is not the rest of the US.

Once Trump starts laying into DeDouche, he will crumble.

Face it GOP, your stuck with Trump in 2024.

Thank you! Counting on a groundswell of support to quell Ron De Satan’s presidential ambitions.

I don't know, Trump's campaign (and Trump himself) has been very low energy since he announced his candidacy. Without the evil Deep State mainstream lib mob media giving him free publicity and the lack of Twitter's audience he could have a hard time generating the same buzz as in 2016.

And if the GOP establishment smells blood in the water they will quietly submarine Donald, all the while assuring his fanatical base they still love him.

In March I'll spend the month in Tampa - St Pete making the rounds of ballparks for spring training games. I prefer St. Pete & St. Pete Beach of course. Al Lang Stadium in St. Pete if it's still there.

I did this each March for years until I went abroad for the past 25 years. Choose a ballpark, drive there, buy a ticket and take in the game. Different park each day. Meet interesting people in the stands that often carries over afterward.

Now that I'm back in the USA and settled in FL I'll be resuming my March routine of rotating spring training ballparks daily until they quit to go north. Maybe you and I can meet up then. I hit the ballparks for the afternoon, go clubbing at night, wake for brunch then rinse and repeat ha. The Life of Riley -- well, a month anyway. Maybe round up some others here too for a visit even if for days instead of a month.

Certainly you are entitled to your opinion but the state of Florida didn't seem to agree with you. DeSantis took 59.4% of the vote, beating Crist by nearly 20 pts. Florida has more registered democrats than republicans, yet DeSantis took the overwhelming majority of the vote.
Where do you get 'more registered democrats'??? I see 2020 as the last time Dems had a slight majority. 100,000 out of 13+ million registered voters... ✌️

It's the delusion by the Armband Right that has taken complete control of the new Flaming Red Florida that DeSantis can win the votes of Democrats and also Independent voters.

DeSantis Florida Model for America is to ban books, don't say gay, arrest voters for voting while black, exploit dependent migrants, lose 1A prohibitions in the courts and much more that has made Florida a model for the Armband Right in the USA but that will never win nationally in November '24. DeSantis would win the flaming red states but little more of any other states, if any.

DeSantis is completely geared to compete for the nomination of the Armband Right Republican Party then to lose in the November general election if he is nominated which remains an open question. Indeed, DeSantis and Trump have never competed on the same ballot in an actual primary. Trump is losing some voters and likely would lose some more as the investigations come to fruition, yet DeSantis and his puffy support are like Romney in 2012, ie, when the vote counts came in election night it was incomprehensible to 'em that they were losing and lost. The Democrat Obama won decisively which exploded the Romney campaign bubble.

Don't you mean "torpedo"?
