(CNN)A federal grand jury has indicted former Trump White House adviser Peter Navarro for contempt of Congress after he refused to cooperate in the House January 6 committee's investigation.

According to the Justice Department, Navarro will make an appearance in court Friday at 2:30 p.m. ET in Washington.
He faces two contempt counts: one for his failure to produce documents demanded by the committee and the second for failing to show up for subpoenaed testimony before House investigators.

Is the DOJ finally shifting into a higher gear? Does look that way. First person inside the WH to be indicted.

I wish this were true.

*Edit ... Turns out it is true.

He is in custody! Looks like the DOJ was fearful of him running or witness tampering.

Court documents indicate that the government requested that Navarro's indictment be sealed until his "arrest operation is executed." The U.S. Attorney’s Office told NBC News that Navarro “is in custody pending the court appearance” later Friday.

"The events leading to the charges in the Indictment have been the subject of public scrutiny and concern," federal prosecutors wrote in the motion to keep the case sealed until Navarro's arrest. Public disclosure of the indictment, they wrote, "would give the Defendant the opportunity to flee, tamper with witnesses or evidence, or take other steps to interfere with the criminal case."

Man, I wished his 2:30pm court appearance was televised. Hard not to imagine his smarty mouth popping off a little to the judge.

Another horse and pony show fueled by TDS.

He brought this entirely on himself while running his mouth on numerous TV shows and in his book. This guys light bulb may be dimmer than Trumps.

This Congress IS contemptible. He should get a medal.

3 (w/r)ing circus.

The only medal he should get is the kind they lock around one's wrists. He's getting a taste of it right now.
Yeah, the committee is tossing out Hail Mary afraid Hail Mary, they're going to out-Mueller Mueller pretty soon. So far the shocking details they discover is that Trump and crew explored and discussed possible means of exposing the crookedness of several states.

Three trump defenders infested this thread and not a one actually addressed the topic. They just do their typical drive-by cut&paste victimhood card playing.

The corrupt government continues to defend it self. Long live the swamp!

Yeah, that's it. The government must be corrupt. It couldn't possibly be the obese, *****-grabbing fadcist. Yeah...

Can you explain away approximately 80 people forging their signatures as fake electors and submitting them to the US congress. That's fraud, that's forgery, and that's illegal. Navarro, Meadows, Guiliani and others including Ms. Thomas were all involved in that part of the scheme.

Just because the big orange moron told a bunch of people the election was stolen, doesn't allow others to commit crimes. And it's only a small part of it all.

This is the largest investigation the DOJ has ever been involved in. There are currently three (3) separate grand juries looking at different areas of the coup attempt. Makes Watergate look like the theft of a Lolli Pop. Republicans are inherently devious and criminal. Going back 50 years, look at the difference in indictments and convictions.

Johnson(D) 5 years in office. 0 indictments. 0 convictions

Nixon (R) 5+ years in office. 76 indictments. 55 convictions.

Ford (R) 2+ years in office. 1 indictment. 1 conviction.

Carter(D) 4 years in office. 1 indictment. 0 convictions

Reagan(R) 8 years in office. 26 indictments. 16 convictions.

Bush Sr. (R) 4 years in office. 1 indictment. 1 conviction

Clinton (D) 8 years in office. 2 indictments. 1 conviction.

Dubya (R) 8 years in office. 16 indictments. 16 convictions.

Obama (D) 8 years in office. 0 indictments 0 convictions.

Trump (R) 3 years in office. 32 indictments, 6 convictions and counting. (This is growing as we speak)

TOTALS: Republicans 152 indictments 95 convictions

Democrats 3 indictments 1 conviction
