Sen. Lindsey Graham (R-S.C.) warned on Monday that there could be a “war” among Republicans if President Trump declared a national emergency to build the U.S.-Mexico border wall.

Graham, speaking in South Carolina, acknowledged that the idea divides Republicans, who he argued should unite behind the president if he ends up circumventing Congress to build the wall.
======================================================
Trump was warned by Graham that he may have to 'go it alone' as many Repubs in Congress will not support the very unpopular wall. The ones most deeply affected are the ones facing reelection in the next election.

Better late than never.

But I'll believe it when I see it. We've heard them grumble at Trump's outrageous actions, and we've seen them repeatedly fall back in line and wait for their marching orders.

The GOP has gotten themselves into quite the pickle with their leader, curious to see how McConnell handles the situation. He wants to avoid another shutdown knowing it will only hurt the GOP. Their loose cannon of a leader is beyond their control and it really worries them.

Trump is not a leader. He’s a reactionary and loves the confusion and decisiveness he creates. A bad choice for president IMO

Oh its even more of a pickle than that. The messaging from the GOP on the Hill is that they will join with Dems to vote to nail a National Emergency Declaration from Trump and force Trump to veto such a Bill coming off the Hill. Further, the messaging is that the 2:3 vote needed to overturn Trump's veto is also likely there.

The GOP realizes that killing Article 1 of the Constitution is not the hill they want to die on and they are further realizing that the chances are very good that Article 3 Judges and Justices will come to the defense of Article 1 if Trump vetos and if they can't muster the 2:3 vote needed as the transparency of forcing a 2:3 veto vote over what is really just an inability of the Executive to gain an Appropriation for something he wants is as plain as the nose on their faces.

The GOP is also aware that if Trump gets smacked down on the Hill, that is bad enough. If he gets smacked down on the Hill and then smacked down in the Courts, while Trump himself will take a major hit politically, the GOP takes an enduring hit for having been the catalyst that brought this oblivious whack job to the WH. Who is doing the People's business while Trump plays mumbly peg with Government and the Constitution itself will be the question that far more than half the country will be asking itself.

That is one very interesting video. And very appropriate, if not downright uncanny comparison to Trump! The narrator is Hilarious!

Those birds and jackals who pick up the scraps remind me of folks like Pence, McConnell, and Lindsey Graham. :lamo

Republicans in the Senate are impacted by the November voting that massacred Republicans in House districts. The national popular vote aggregate margin was the greatest ever in House elections, plus-nine percent for Democrats and the Democratic party.

Going into the 2020 election cycle two dozen Republican senators are up compared to a dozen or so Democratic party senators. This is the reverse of 2018 when the D party had a net loss of two seats. In November Kansas elected a Democratic party governor and flipped a red House seat.

Republicans are wearing the collar for the shutdown. The vast majority of Americans oppose Trump's Wall and see no state of emergency at the border. Pentagon testified to the House Armed Services Committee last week it sees no threat to national security at the southern border and is thinking globally about Russia, China, Iran, NK.

Trump was going to let the wall thingy continue to be swept under the rug until Coulter and Limbaugh got on their high horse to pronounce that no wall meant no more base of support. That lit Trump's ass on fire and he's been running around since in all directions. Now comes the sweetest revenge of 'em all which is Republican party cannibalism using Trump's ass on fire to do the barbecuing. And a big blaze it is.

Is it bad that I know what mumbly peg is? I said the day after the election, look at the bright side, maybe trump will be the last nail in the GOP coffin?

Trump is most certainly not like the total bad ass honey badger.

In fact, he’s very much the opposite. He’s a spoiled rotten septuagenarian toddler who throws a fit when he doesn’t get his way.

Graham should be worried about the Senators who are up for election who oppose Trump on the wall.

But seriously, it doesn't matter. Congress won't give him money for the wall. Trump will have to do it without them.

No, not true. Most of the ones who lost rejected Trump offers to campaign.

Senator's don't work for trump or any other President, and since the wall is not their idea but Trump's then there is no requirement to support trump over an issue many if them and those that elected them to office don't support.

As Barack "I've got a pen and a phone" Obama says, "Sure".

American Conservatives have become what we once fought against to defeat. We over here aren't tired of winning yet, on this especially.

1. Who is this "we" you refer to?

2. What did this "we" fight against...that you say American Conservatives have become?

3. "We over here"?? Where is this "we" at?

4. What "winning" has this "we" done?

You know, Tangmo, it's really hard to have a discussion when you aren't very clear as to what you are talking about. Clarify this stuff and maybe we can talk.
