Despite our fierce ideologies and tendency to view every politician as either a Christ or Devil, I was curious how most Americans feel about each area of the President's job.

Foreign Policy? The Economy? The War on Terror? The Bureaucracy (i.e. Education, Energy, Health & Human Services, etc)? Tax Policy?

I'd give the President a B+ on conducting the wars in Afghanistan and Iraq, a D- in Foreign Policy, a D- on the Economy, a C on Tax Policy, and a flat out F on managing the Bureaucracy. (People, seriously, this is why it is important to elect an individual who has RUN SOMETHING BEFORE).

The fact is, Obama has done little to change the War stance since Bush - and I approved of what Bush was doing. The only changes were to put artifical timelines in place for egress but since that hasn't happened yet, I had to approve.

The rest were relatively easy to identify for me with the exception of Taxes. I know he's going to raise taxes, everyone knows this but he hasn't yet. So my "disapprove" is in anticipation on this one issue. I would have also said "disapprove" to the wars in anticipation as well, but I think we have a shot at staying and finishing the job in Iraq.

I'd give Obama overall a solid D for disappointment. He's reckless, ignorant, and his policy's and his attitude are hubris defined. How his smugness hasn't grown old to the press is a testiment to the press's enamored liberal bias. They love him and will continue to love him while the economy collapses around us.

He's the consumate prom king and plays the part well.

My only hesitation about this poll, is that it doesn't make any distinction as to why or what part of some very broad issues it is you are talking about. For example, while some fools would have you believe that Obama has "raised taxes" (even though that ISN'T true) my objection is that he HASN'T raised taxes on the greedy rich nearly enough. Without such distinctions, this sort of "poll" really doesn't say much.

You cant grade them, because nothing is their fault. And shame on you for attempting to judge them. You only started this thread because you are a racist.

Either you approve or disapprove. It doesn't matter which side of the spectrum you are on. This isn't a "will you vote for Obama in the future" poll.

I voted based on which way I felt stronger. in other words, I don't approve 100% of his foreign policy, but it's more than 50% so I voted approval. I assume that's how most people see it -- only the most fervent sycophants and the most biased opponents would be 100% positive or 100% negative.

That's pretty much what I was looking for. While I disagree with President Obama on most things, I don't disagree with him on all things. Of course, the areas where I agree with the President, he does almost nothing in support (i.e. he's done nothing to legalize Gay Marriage, he's done nothing to ban Capital Punishment, and he's done nothing to reduce the terrible burden the Drug War has put on the American People). But I'm pretty sure the President would agree with my positions on those issues.

What utter effen nonsense. The why is at least as, if not MORE important than the what to anyone with proper brain function.

And that is what the thread is here for Uncola. You can't measure every single why in the world with a poll. That isn't what polls measure. :) But there is all this room to type what you think and what your reasons are. So, you just use your words dude, and express yourself.

passing meaningful health care reform: C for effort
Putting an end to his predecessor's wars: F
Proving the "he'll cut and run!" voices wrong: A
Balancing the budget: F
Sounding like an ivy leaguer instead of a hick: A
Not starting any new wars: A

It's a mixed bag to be sure.

Is sounding like an Ivy-League graduate a good thing? They usually come of rather smug. Frankly, I'd rather listen to the likes of Ron Paul (Duke) and Paul Ryan (Miami University), or Eric Cantor (George Washington University) or Gary Johnson (University of New Mexico).

I agree. I looked and guess I voted pretty much the exact way you did.

I support every action he has made concerning the wars. Though if his plan doesn't work I will quickly lose support.

I support his handling our recovery. We have finally been recovering. It will take time to get the unemployment down but I was expecting that. To think he can simply pull millions of jobs out of his back pocket and give everyone jobs is ridiculous. The man isn't a Messiah like some conservatives like to think of him as.

I'd give him a C on foreign policy.

I support his tax cuts. Yes he will likely need to raise taxes again once the economy has fully recovered, but I'm willing to accept that to pay down our debt as long and the government is willing to cut programs to have a surplus again. Hopefully another Bush wont **** that up next time.

Give him an F on managing bureaucracy. He has not been bipartisan enough, but at the same time it appears to me Republicans are more concerned about winning the next elections than coming together. Didn't see that coming...

Better to sound like you have some education than to try to sound like a good old boy despite having graduated from Harvard Business School.

What? Why? What does that have to do with policy or anything relevant? I'd rather have a President the Stutters and says "Like" every other sentence, if his policies are good and his Administration is capable.

It would be better, no doubt, to have a president with sound policy. It also helps if he can convince people that he knows what he is talking about.

Well, you know, like we need to stop spending, you know, like so much ummmmmmm..... errrrr... money and try to sort of you know, like, reduce the deficit.

Of course, not even Bush was quite that bad, but you get the idea.

I disagree with his handling of the war for one thing. He is continuing the Bush foreign policy. As for the economy, I think he is 'decent' but I am no fan of bailouts or stimulus bills. This goes to say I am also strongly against the Bush corporate bailout as well.

**** Serbia.

Wars - Disapprove. He did the right thing in Iraq, but at least as far as my judgment is concerned, he's a victim of his own success on that front. Afghanistan is now more important than Iraq, and I don't approve of the way he's conducted himself on that front. He needs to either **** or get off the pot...not do a half-assed surge at the same time he announced a future withdrawal. Meanwhile, Pakistan appears to be coming apart at the seams, and the US military does not appear to have any well-developed contingency plan to deal with the total collapse of an allied nuclear state.

Economy - Approve. For the most part, he's made the right moves. He bailed out the banks, provided a much needed economic stimulus, extended and improved unemployment benefits, reappointed Bernanke to chair the Fed, and will soon pass financial reform. He's made a few mistakes too - the handling of AIG and the bailouts of the auto companies - but he's had far more successes than failures on this front.

Foreign policy - Neutral. I assume this category encompasses everything except the wars? I didn't vote because I'm torn. I do think that his outreach to the Islamic world is extremely important and unfortunately he isn't getting the credit that he deserves on this front. Obama also deserves credit for (what I think) will become more apparent in the next couple years: He's managed to coopt Russia into playing a constructive role in global affairs, rather than be a gadfly. But at the same time, Obama has needlessly irritated some of our allies for no discernible reason on repeated occasions. Specifically the UK.

Tax policies - Approve. I'm glad he didn't try to raise taxes during the recession, but I'm also glad that he recognizes that we'll need to roll back the Bush tax cuts in the long term in order to generate revenue.

Bureaucracy - Approve. With the exception of Eric Holder, I like everyone he's appointed to his cabinet and high-ranking staff.

F.

He's earned his F.
He is everything knowledgeable Republicans warned about.
Actually worse.

A Radikal.
Aggressive Divider.
Race baiter.
Fiscal incompetent.
Nation security disaster.
Enemy appeaser.
In short, a model Chicago Thug. He is our Enema.

The last question might be:
I Approve of his massive expansion of the Bureaucracy.
I Disapprove of his massive expansion of the Bureaucracy.

You voted 100% approval as I voted 100% disapproval. Hello fellow fervent sycophant.:2razz:

I couldn't have said it better myself. This is pretty much exactly how I feel.

lol. :rofl Nice.

Oh, yeah. Nice. Why don't you go high five each other, comb your hair, roll up the cuffs of your jeans, flip the collar of your jacket up and go beat up a nerd on the playground - because that's what they do in junior high school.
