PETOSKEY — The Department of Natural Resources killed six animals as part of its enforcement on a warrant at an Emmet County farm, known as an animal rescue operation.

...

The charge, a misdemeanor, is for holding wild animals in captivity without permit.

“That Thursday, the DNR rolled in with four trucks. They knew exactly where all the animals were,” Hall said.

“They killed the deer right here on the spot,” Hall said.

The small deer was taken in as a fawn at the end of fall. At the time, the deer was only two weeks old. Hall had used milk from her goats to help the deer regain strength, and had a pen for it on the farm.

Thank goodness we have the progressive regulatory state, otherwise, who would have killed these animals?

The article does a decent job of explaining that when wild animals are taken in, they most often cannot be released into the wild because A) they have become dependent on humans to take care of them and cannot fend for themselves and B) they become a danger to humans as they have no fear of humans and can become belligerent as they seek out humans to feed them, etc.

Some people feel the rules do not apply to them and could not give a damn how their arrogance impacts the rest of us.

Democratic governments are composed of the people. People still make plenty of mistakes. Those mistakes don't prove that human cooperation and rule enforcement ruins anything. Living alongside and supporting imperfect people who make mistakes is better than the alternative.
