Gov. Newsom admits renewable energy failure.

True for home electrical use. On the flip side the office building should be using less if workers are working from home.

Decentralization increases the overall energy requirement, I would expect.

If you're not going to read my posts, don't respond to them.

It will cost trillions of dollars just to get the stuff to low earth orbit. Trillions more to boost it safely away from earth. That sound like a good plan?

I read it, and the Wright Brothers were told heavier than air craft could never fly too.

What’s your thoughts on the Navies UFO videos?

No...the problem is reality. With current technology you CANNOT fuel a major metropolis like LA County reliably with green energy. Its simply not possible. There isnt a mechanism or green energy source currently in place that would provide the needed green energy, no matter how much they click their heels and really really really really wish it were so.

Are you an electrical engineer with knowledge of the national grid capacities and transmission capabilities?

Sooner or later, you run out of other people’s money, enjoy your future tax increases that you won’t be able to deduct from your federal taxes.

Californians Leaving the State in Record Numbers

How is it “other people’s money“ in California more than in other states that have regressive sales taxes as their income source, or more than when it is used for the military?

And nuclear power is not a pipe dream?

Nuclear absolutely is not a pipe dream. Not convinced it will take hold here at this point which is a shame. Nuclear should be part of a diversified power strategy IMO.

Somebody posted something earlier. I am paraphrasing but it went something like, "if they are not doing it in Cali they are not doing it anywhere in this country". I suspect that is true.

I also agree with the poster that keyed "let's start with one". Problem is depending on where it goes, one will likely get as much resistance as ten.

I get your point about it being part of a diversified energy strategy, but politically it is a heavy lift, with accidents and waste disposal hard to reassure people about. And of course, nuclear probably causesmore cancer than windmills.... :)

Nope, and I havent slept at a Holiday In recently either. I do however know that there is a difference between supporting LA Cities initiative with a population of 4 million people that requires upgrades and changes to the grid, requires expected and not currently available expanded energy generation capacity, and wont be expected to be realized til 2050, and the 11 million residents and businesses of all of LA County, and that their current state without calculating in growth is failing to provide power reliably in times of high energy demand. I also know that after 10 years of working on their renewable energy goals, California as of 2016 still relied on 82% fossil fuel power generation, a whopping 3% decline in 10 years of commitment to wind and solar development.

That being said...I am truly a fan of viable renewable energy and very much hope that I am wrong and that they can pull this off. Going green without nuclear power would be awesome to achieve.

California Facing Largest Power Outages In Its History This Week – Deadline

(Newsom pointed to California’s shift to renewable resources as part of the reason for the supply shortage. Shutting down polluting gas power plants has created gaps in the state’s energy supply, he said.

While the state remains committed to a greener future, Newsom said, “We cannot sacrifice reliability” and promised that officials would be “much more aggressive … in making sure that is the case.)

That quote is buried about half way down.

I sit in comfortably A/C and my food freezers are safe because my power company uses all available resources, and The politicians here aren’t fools in rose colored glasses.

AOC and the ridiculous Democrats want California like power blackouts nation wide.

There is nothing about renewable energy failing. The problem is that he shut down our current energy without sufficiently replacing them.

That cost money, where is it going to come from? Other people’s money is leaving the state due to illegals and high taxes.

But he cut pollution, as promised, aren’t you happy with the blackouts? You voted for the socialist/communist way. Get use to it.

Water, food, and gas shortages coming your way. (Venezuela)

The power outages could not happen to a nicer group of people in a nicer state.

They deserve what they get for being so gullible by the promises of democrats.

They need to put up another hundred million windmills, I guess. That would look real nice.

Yep, I’m enjoying them enjoying the results of their voting for socialist/communist/democrats. LOL!

The feeling of sweat running down you face while trying to sleep could be a game changer for Democrats in California, they own the blackouts.

I’m loving my A/C in a non-democrat state, pulling up the covers, Kind of chilly, it’s 92’f at 7pm outside, it’s 72 in my bedroom.

You’re still acting like I’m saying this is impossible. Clearly this is way above your head. I’m saying it’s technologically simple to accomplish but is VERY EXPENSIVE. The current cost to LEO is about $10,000 per pound, and we have almost a hundred thousand metric tons of the stuff to deal with right NOW. So we’re already in the trillions just to get to LEO, and the delta-V requirements to actually do something SANE like get the stuff to escape earth orbit would easily multiply that several times over. You have yet to acknowledge even one sentence of these explanations I’ve given you, is there for a reason for that or are you just trolling?

When I use a term like delta-V, do you even know what I’m talking about?

I don’t see how that could possibly be relevant.

Maybe wait for the space elevator. We could use it for counter mass of orbital refining. We could use some really toxic processes in space and no one would care, so it's an environmental no-brainer. But, we would need counterweight loads for the elevator.

I'm not denying he made a mistake. I'm just wondering why renewable energy is being declared as a failure because of it. For example, this thread is a disaster. But that doesn't mean the internet is a disaster.

Renewable energy is energy that is collected from renewable resources, which are naturally replenished on a human timescale, such as sunlight, wind, rain, tides, waves, and geothermal heat. Renewable energy often provides energy in four important areas: electricity generation , air and water heating / cooling , transportation , and rural (off-grid) energy services.

If there is one place o Earth that should be able to get renewable energy right, its California. How did they mess this up?

Because renewable energy isnt the answer- its expensive and unreliable.

Also solar panels produce the most power during sunny summer days. There you can also build concentrated solar power plants with thermal storage that can procedu electricity on demand. So what is needed is more investment in renewable energy and energy storage that are competing fossil fuels all across the world.

What? You think renewable energy plants like wind farms are immune to heat waves? LOL you are funny.

Also solar panels produce the most power during sunny summer days.
And they produce very little when its cloudy or winter, and nothing at night.

Dream on.
