Gov. Gavin Newsom easily survives California recall election, AP projects

Good. We won't miss you. Please tell everyone how terrible CA is and to not move here.
Uhaul charged lots now for trucks going out and begs people to bring a truck back.

There are, we have a cabin in one of them. AZ is turning blue and the fools in charge now are making asses of themselves trying to save themselves.
Please sell your cabin. Too many lefties are escaping Calif and trying to bring their leftism with them. We say we’re moving from Timbuktu to avoid the scowls.

Yeah, the bigger problem is what's driving the drought because that not only reduces existing water supplies, but then makes the region a tinderbox for wildfires. For us in the northeast it's a question of how to handle the ever increasing amount of flash floods we get from not only seasonal storms, but regular rain events. Many towns and cities were not equipped to handle the new loads of water we're seeing; which results in unprecedented flooding.

What remains to be seen is how viable it is to dedicate the amount of water resources to agriculture in California, because what this all comes down to is deciding how much of the available water is dedicated to keeping quality of life for the residents versus supporting the agriculture industry. Obviously any scale down of agriculture has a host of cascading effects, but it's time to start taking all things into consideration.
In East Tennessee we're getting increased rain coming in from the ever more frequent hurricanes in the gulf. No droughts here. I'm happy to live on a hill, so I feel safe from the nearby river. There are housing developments that are built on the flood plain that give me cause for concern though.

Naw, We like the cabin, and it's a great jumping off point to get to where we like go in SW CO. Did 12 years in AZ for work so glad to live by the beach full time now.

Easily seen as happening as long as a month ago. When the recall switched from competency to defending and protecting one's own, the results were signed, sealed and delivered especially in a state where democrats outnumber Republicans 2-1. You have to hand it to the Democrats in California to making the recall all about Elder and not about Newsom's competency. Smart political tactics, strategy and a game changing move.

In the end, the recall was all about Elder and not Newsom. Newsom just got lost in the shuffle big time. It's almost like he wasn't even on the ballot.
Elder was very helpful. He promised to resend the mask mandates. Nothing like putting millions of little kids in danger to motivate the other side.

No they don't. The renters drop the truck off at the nearest U Haul site to their destination. Nobody is asked to bring the truck back. That's just silly.

All republicans did was waste a bunch of taxpayer money. And that includes for republicans.
No... people are looking at this the wrong way...
They used California's Own Taxpayer money, to set up a situation to promote a narrative!!
That narrative is "to promote their spin and hook game of "voter fraud" to lure more people to back that narrative, while hoping to demoralize democrats and others to loose faith in the voting process while cementing their cult followers to another cycle of madness.

Realize: They had their voter fraud message ready and placed it front and center even before the votes were counted. (now if that does not tell you the nature and scope of the game, its only because people are captured in a narrative controlled by Republicanism)

We have to be people who can see beyond the smoke and mirrors gaming that Republican Play. The only thing they cared about was getting their "voter fraud narrative in the heads of the right wingers and republicans" as their assurance they have them hooked. This is the long game that is targeted toward 2022. Republican don't give a crap about Larry Elder, he's a tool, he's to them, no more than Clarence was to his master in D'jango Unchained... he's the black face on right wing media to try and lure whom ever he can. They did not care about him loosing, it wasn't their money they were gaming with, it was California Residents money.

People can see these things more clearly when they don't get tied up in Republican Narratives. Now, their next game is to promote the voter fraud narrative on any "in-state election" they loose, and they will do the same when it comes to "city elections" and "country commissioners".

Beware!!! and know the savage vile that is being dealt with, How many times do they have to show people, they don't give a damn about anything but "Power, Money, White Nationalist Dominance and Wealthy White Male Leadership". To them Democracy does not matter, because if they have White Nationalist Dominance of Wealthy White Males... they know from historical experiences how much they can do and get away with, The used White Nationalist Dominance of Wealthy White Males, to create Slavery, and to Manufacture 100 yrs of Segregation...
Don't for one minute they they don't understand and know that, and they will DO ANYTHING to try and regain that level of power and dominance. White dominated Corporate America loves that concept because it means high profit, cheap labor and no one to regulate them.

If people review history, they can better understand how to be more discerning about the act and antics and agenda of White Nationalist Republicanism. They have no concern about Civility, and to them Civic can become anything they can dominate and dictate it to be.

Pay Attention!!! When so many are telling you that they don't care about Democracy, nor any damages they do to it.. they want the position of power and control... its far more important to them than Democracy for and by the people.

PLEASE THINK BEYOND GETTING INTO DRAMA SPINS, step back and let history teach you of the villainous vile that we are dealing with and you can then clearly see the madness and malice within their agenda.

These people don't care what they do to the American Currency... they want power, so they have control over American Gold Reserves... That is the true international currency.
Trump told people, that he did not care about debt, that he would simply pay whom is owed less that what is owed, and then threaten them if they say anything about it. (people just need to learn how to listen)...

At least we now have proof that claiming fraud is the standard GOP response to losing, now. Speaks to their real thoughts. They don't think elections are legitimate in the first place, they only count when the GOP wins.

It doesn't bode well, given how they are using state legislatures to pass laws allowing them to just overturn results.

Please see post 82.

These people don't care about the kids, they think American is overpopulated, and these are working poor peoples kids, so they consider them disposable and replicable. Their kids go to private schools with all protects they can create in place for them, or they will hire a tutor and educate them at home.

If they can wipe out an portion of future generations, that means only their kids will rule the roost. These people "always have an agenda" behind what they do, and that agenda has always had one common theme and one goal. "White Nationalist of Wealthy White Male Dominance". NOTHING ELSE MATTERS TO THEM.

How many more ways must they show that overtly before people see it for what it is. They consider anyone who does not follow their cult brigade and join it, as unimportant, weak and gullible. so, they can lie, they can deny, they can deflect, and they can attack and destroy, and they know people give them a pass, because people don't want to face the fact of truth, that "savagery is real".

Too many times, they've seen Democrats, Independents, and Libertarians, and those who don't list a part, who have always rushed up to "sanitize the vile, and give them a pass". These people don't give a damn about "Compassion"... no more than how they can use the compassion of others to white wash the vile that they do, and they've been able to count on it repeatedly to do exactly that.

Trump was and example of how so many, worked their way to sanitizing his vile, his acts and his inhumanity and his destructiveness until they could put in into the back of their minds as if they are determined to have and embrace selective Amnesia.

Evil... is and has always been that conniving... it always will be.. So... People need to wake up, get out of fantasy land of thinking these people will abandon savagery... realize that a savage will always do what makes one a savage.. they have no reason or concern to do anything else.

Look back over the commentary... see how people get suckered into the spin game... and when one is spinning, they don't see they are being spun by something they ignored to check before they got onto and into the spin cycle. By the time they look up... the savages have already started a new cycle of savagery.

People, step back... and Stay Alert ... and you will see how the madness is like a destructive tornado, and don't place yourself in its pathway.

I'm sure many don't like what I write... but none can refute it...

Truthfully, this site needs more younger people to participate, because this older set.. seem not to grasp and they don't have the focus to expound and expand on sharing the points and factors that can help others not get sucker played by Republican Narratives. Most simply don't have the ability to stay focused enough to write out the key points and reference commentary to promote others to be more discerning, to do more learning, and to embrace critical thinking. This is not meant to offend in that way... its just the simple fact that many people over 50 were not trained or educated to be critical thinkers, during their K-12 yrs. and many older people were laborers of various sorts, or had limited access or means to get civics educated, as well as some never considered it of much importance. so, they just don't have the conscience mind to keep it up front and research to strengthen that knowledge of Civics, or how to see the vile that attacks the Civics of America's Representative Democracy.

I'd say... if people slow themselves down a notch, and actually look deeply, and train their mind to thing in multi-variable perspectives, they can then become to see more, and become far less susceptible to get caught up in right wing spin.

Ummm. It’s not. We are planning to move and consulted with movers and this is straight from those in the know.

The only thing that datapoint would suggest is that California has more people moving out of it than into it.

Which doesn't mean much. California has a very high cost of living. It makes more financial sense to move somewhere less-costly but also a strong growth market so that your new home increases in value.

Well ya, obviously. The trick is not to let voting parents know that. For some reason they don't understand that not everybody is a Trumptard. Trumptards are fine with the notion that masks are some annoying liberal affectation that doesn't do any good anyway. They're fine with people dying like flies because they don't think they're going to die. The rest of the voters see a mask mandate as the only way to protect their children who are too young for vaccination. Elder said, "Elect me so I can directly endanger your kids lives". Sure, that'll work.

So your source is with a mover?

Does he keep you up to date with your covid info as well?

The cost of living is due to taxes and greed by state employees and bloated work force and illegals.

I wouldn't get the scoop on moving from Fauci.

OTOH, I wouldn't get medical information from him, either.

There should come a day when you leftists will start believing that I am seldom wrong. Here is an article from Business Insider, a left wing site:

Renting a U-Haul to move out of California can be 4 times more expensive than moving in due to high demand

Your apology accepted.

California Exodus

California has long been lauded by its residents as the best state to live in, with so many unique features – the ocean, the mountains, exciting big cities and quaint small towns – but in recent years, the “California Exodus” has proven that the so-called California dream might be over.

At the beginning of 2021, U-Haul published their yearly ranking of growth per state. Surprisingly (or not), California ranked last. Since 2016, the Golden State has ranked 48th or lower.

653,000 people left California in 2020, while only 480,000 moved into the state, leaving a net negative in population growth.

State officials said in late 2020, the state’s growth slowed to the lowest rate on record.

The Bay Area, particularly San Francisco, was the top region that saw departures after the COVID-19 pandemic was declared a national emergency in March 2020. San Jose and Oakland were also affected.

One of the largest reasons people are moving out of the Golden State is affordability, according to an article by Sacramento’s ABC10 News.

Home prices have skyrocketed and buying and maintaining a home in California is much more expensive than in other nearby states. The state’s median home price hit a record high of $712,000 in September 2020.

High taxes, politics and the business climate are other reasons for leaving, as noted by local media.

Since the COVID-19 pandemic, unemployment claims reached 1.6 million in 2020, and in September, the Census Bureau named California as the state with the highest real-world poverty rate with about 7 million Californians living in poverty.

Many people in the state have lost their livelihoods during the pandemic, they have chosen to move back to their hometown, or closer to family, or to get a fresh start.

For those who have not lost their jobs, remote work looks like it is here to stay in many industries. This is leading people to leave high cost-of-living cities that are now offering less amenities than before due to pandemic-related closures, in lieu of lower cost-of-living cities where they can own a home, live comfortably and work remotely.

Lower commute times, less crime, bigger houses and more all factor into the draw of leaving a large urban center for a small town.

With the move of popular personalities out of California, like Tesla’s Elon Musk and podcast magnate Joe Rogan, who both moved to Texas, Californians are increasingly interested in leaving the state.

Kind of like Trump defeating Trump in 2020, we have Elder basically defeating the recall instead of Newsom.

I know all the trash-talking about California, so it’s a bit startling to look at trends in real G.D.P. and employment between 2010 and the eve of the pandemic and discover that California and Texas, the state conservatives put up as a model, had essentially the same growth rates. It’s also startling, given all the talk about people fleeing high taxes, to learn that highly educated, high-income workers — who do indeed pay higher taxes in California than in most other parts of the U.S. — were continuing to migrate into California.

It's doesn't take a rocket scientist to figure this out. California was one of the states that lost a representative due to the 2020 census. 2010 was the first time California didn't gain any representatives since they became a state. Now, 2020 California loses one. There is a trend developing here.

Seems like housing would be going down not up here then.

Taxes are high in California on high income residents but lower than Texas on middle and low income residents.

The high cost of living is all about high housing costs in California. What’s behind California’s housing nightmare? Runaway NIMBYism, which has blocked new housing construction. California’s economic performance matched that of Texas in the 2010s, but it issued far fewer building permits despite having a larger population. California gained three million jobs between 2010 and 2019 but added fewer than 700,000 housing units.

You can keep your bigotry against immigrants to yourself.

I wouldn't be applying for work at SpaceX if I were you. As I wrote in post #95, highly educated, high-income workers — who do indeed pay higher taxes in California than in most other parts of the U.S. — were continuing to migrate into California. California’s experience, in other words, calls out the lie to conservative claims that taxing the rich and spending more on social programs destroy prosperity, as people paying those high taxes were migrating to CA.

Hmmmm. In th city I am in, they have been building like crazy for 20 years and now more than ever, so I would question the accuracy of your post.
