Negativity is often the easiest thing to do. But to sensible people ...it's depressing and hollow....and this is all ...and I mean all the right have today. The party has become what Rush Limbaugh is ....a guy who just sits on his behind and criticize. The right hasn't figured out this guy is only an entertainer.

So go ahead ...keep bringing these Sarah Palins and clown candidates...and America will keep rejecting them!!

Newt Gingrich recent quote:
“I would bet for most of you, you go home in the next two weeks while your members of Congress are home and you look at them in the eye and you say, ‘What is your positive replacement for Obamacare?’ and they will have zero answer,” Gingrich told state party chairs, activists, and operatives at the Republican National Committee summer meeting. “We are caught up right now in a culture – and you see it every single day – where as long as we are negative, as long as we are vicious, as long as we can tear down our opponent, we don’t have to worry, so we don’t.

“This is a very deep problem,” he added. “I’m being totally candid with you.”

Like Glen Beck Just said (over the Clown controversy):

“Today, I declare myself officially a rodeo clown,” the host concluded. “We (THE GOP) are all rodeo clowns.”

Well said Beck ....well said ....:lamo

Lots of people in the GOP are in the process right now of following Rush Limbaugh over a cliff.

They will get no sympathy from me when the inevitable happens.

So go ahead ...keep bringing these Sarah Palins and clown candidates...and America will keep rejecting them!!

If the GOP doesn't stop spending almost all of its time and effort trying to bash Obama, and start promoting some good ideas of its own it will fade away to a minor, regional, party in the not-distant future.

Don't think so?

Wait and see.

"Better days are coming." ~ But not for today's out of touch, running out of time, GOP.

Considering the Left is a party that thrives on the misery of others (poverty, unemployment, racial strife, etc) I don't see the correlation.

The negativity is, without a doubt, why I cannot stand the Republican party. I disagree with many of their positions, but the intense dislike I have of the party is the negativity. Because the negativity seems to breed ignorance and as long as you say something bad, it doesn't matter if it's factually correct or not. It's the dishonesty in negativity which bothers me the most about the Republican party.

I agree with many of the philosophical concepts of being conservative, but Republicans are not conservative. Right now, the Republican party is little more than a bunch of whiny, petulant children.

The GOP is going nowhere. Recent history has shown there will be times when one party has the advantage, but then will do something dumb and the other party will be dominant. Yes, the GOP politicians are collectively acting like a bunch of loons. But they are not going to fade into a minor party, they have way too much money and way too many people who support their gun-toting, bible thumping, blame the government for everything rhetoric.

Yeah the OP was full of malarkey. But for the left wanting to bash them and thereby keeping them in the spotlight, Rush and Beck would be doing the late shift at small market radio stations :doh

Nonsense. Rush Limbaugh isn't popular because of "the left", Rush Limbaugh is popular because he's a politically based shock jock who says the things those who listen to him want to say themselves and because many of his listeners want to be told how they need to think.

And just to be clear, that's not a condition of being "on the right" or "conservative" or "Republican", it's a condition of being human, or at least an American. But the myth that Rush Limbaugh (and Glenn Beck) are popular because of their opposition is simply false.

Strange that I only hear liberals speak of Rush and Beck anymore......rattling cages is a good schtick, ask Ann Coulter or Al Sharpton. It isn't a marketable "controversy" if your opponents are not pissed off. I would love to see the real demographic breakdown for those guys. I bet you the opposing political faction makes up a good chunk of their audience.

Wow, got your talking points pants on today huh? Lets see if you can actually walk in those.

So, you agree with many of the philosophical beliefs that supposedly underpin the GOP but do not think the Republican Party is actually conservative. You are more a tea party guy then, are you? Or is that all just talk? Could you be more specific about the the many parts of the philosophy you agree with?

Now I do believe that the democrat party was the party of slow drip socialism, now having taken its well greased fingers out of the dam trying to get the whole edifice to crumble, and would assert that the establishment of the Republican party as being far too similar to the "progressive" statists and apologists. So what is so great about the Democrat party? One cannot rationally deny what WCH so succinctly points out regarding the democrat party, they do thrive on the misery, or assumed misery, of others.

The only reason that the democrat party is "somewhere" is because they have put one over on low information voters scaring them and mis-educating, through media and the public education systems [ kudos to the hardworking on the left that did this hard and long term job, yet shame on them for perpetrating this set of growing misconceptions about how the world actually works on so many, especially the children ]. And they, the Democrats, are barely anywhere, if the GOP is "nowhere", as they won the presidency by slightly over half the vote, 51%, they barely hold the senate and will probably lose it midterm, the GOP has the House, and what? 37 state governorships [even if there were 57 states like Obama thought, it is sill over half], 24 of those with the GOP having both state houses. Now then, where oh where is the "somewhere" that the D's are supposed to be, again?

That seems a bit vague and intangible, well unless you one of those ones that just have a substantive tingle going right up your own leg or believe that state control of industry will actually cure things. Which we know from history is just utter hogwash.

What I think some people, many in fact, in the Center/Moderate group and on the Left need to understand is that you are never going to see a "positive" Governmental Program from those of us who call ourselves Conservatives. Our proposals move in one of two avenues, neither of which you folks consider to be "positive"...

1. Reduction of the Size/Scale/Influence of Government on Average Citizens and return this country to its Constitutional origins.
2. Imposition of Social/Societal Controls to repair the Moral Foundation of this nation.

Since you folks don't see either of those things as "positive" acts, you are never going to see a policy from real Conservatives that you consider to be "positive".

Negativity, when based in reality, makes perfect sense. Or do you subscribe to Pollyanna's version of life?

The basic complaint is valid, as far as U.S. health care is concerned. To deny that there are serious problems with the US medical care delivery system (in its entirety) is foolish. Saying no to any proposed solution, without offering a viable alternative solution, simply says keep things as they are.

What the left ignores is that adding ever more gov't controled programs while not addressing the probelms with the existing gov't controlled programs is not making things significantly better, just more complicated. We already had Medicare, Medicaid/CHIPS, the VA/Tricare and FEHBP and then they added PPACA (slightly tinkering with Medicaid in the process).

When congress, federal employees, private employers and even the unions want no part of PPACA that should be a huge clue that it was not such a "good idea". Even Obama is now saying no (but cleverly phrased as I'll do it "better" later) to some major parts of it.

Strange that I only hear liberals speak of Rush and Beck anymore
That is strange, because the only people I ever seem to hear it from in my life are Republicans. *shrug*

It isn't a marketable "controversy" if your opponents are not pissed off. I would love to see the real demographic breakdown for those guys. I bet you the opposing political faction makes up a good chunk of their audience.
I would be interested to know as well, but I highly doubt it. Though I suppose it depends what you consider to be a "good chunk".
Wow, got your talking points pants on today huh? Lets see if you can actually walk in those.
I walk just fine in any pants, though I generally do my best work without them.

So, you agree with many of the philosophical beliefs that supposedly underpin the GOP
No, I agree with many of the philosophical beliefs which supposedly underpin conservativism. Not the GOP.

but do not think the Republican Party is actually conservative.
That is correct.

You are more a tea party guy then, are you?
No, I have an IQ larger than my shoe size.

Or is that all just talk? Could you be more specific about the the many parts of the philosophy you agree with?
I agree with the basic idea of keeping what works, while searching for a provably better solution. I believe in the idea we should not recklessly spend money where it's not needed. I believe in the idea of government interfering only when interference is necessary for the good of all.

Those are conservative concepts, they are not Republican or Tea Party concepts. A true conservative would not pass Voter ID reform to solve a voter fraud problem which does not exist. A true conservative would not want to waste billions of dollars on an already bloated defense budget which is roughly equal to the rest of the world combined. A true conservative would not actively seek amendments to deny someone something based upon their race, religion or sexual preference.

I'm not a true conservative, but in many ways, I'm closer than the Republican party or the Tea party.

So what is so great about the Democrat party?
You would have to ask a Democrat, I am not a Democrat. I do find them to be the more rational of the two parties at the moment, though I fully realize that could just very well be because they have more power right now and don't have to act crazy to change the balance of power.

One cannot rationally deny what WCH so succinctly points out regarding the democrat party, they do thrive on the misery, or assumed misery, of others.
Yes, one most certainly can rationally deny that, especially since that comment is utterly ridiculous on so many levels.

You just posted all that, and you accuse others of being low information voters and being scared by media. I find that incredibly amusing.

The problem is that the GOP has perverted Conservatism into some bizarre anti-government, anti-tax, pro military intervention stance and spiced it up with a bit of religious right social control.

Real Conservatives look to make government work better. Repealing Obamacare 40 times with no coherent plan for replacement is not Conservative. Complaining about debts and deficits but not being willing to pay for it with any tax increases is not Conservative.

How is it that a self-professed "Libertarian" doesn't understand the fact that the Government is not the answer to the healthcare problems that we have in this country. In fact, without Ronnie Ray-Gun's ludicrous demand that hospitals and clinics treat people who can't pay, many of our problems wouldn't exist in the first place. Government is almost always the PROBLEM, not the Solution; and I though that was something that Libertarians realized; or are you just proof that a Libertarian is really a Liberal who just can't figure out how to spell it?

You are correct that the Republicans have perverted the word Conservative. Primarily by not being Conservative enouth.

Real Conservatives look to make government work better. Repealing Obamacare 40 times with no coherent plan for replacement is not Conservative. Complaining about debts and deficits but not being willing to pay for it with any tax increases is not Conservative.

Real Conservatives realize that the Government has appropriate boundaries. Inside of them they are Omnipotent. Outside of them they have no legitimate mandate for ANY involvement.

It is neither in the best interest of the U.S. to let the disabled starve nor to let the poor to die for lack of ready cash to pay for emergency medical treatment. I will agree that an honest free market system (no more $1.50 tylenol doses or $3000 MRI tests) would go a long way toward reducing overall medical care costs, as would better overall preventive care but the PPACA basing medical care insurance premiums on political correctness (and upon your AGI) rather than actuarial risks is not the solution, nor is saying that you will receive only the medical treatment that you (or your family) can currently afford (or be allowed to die).

Bingo. What's the saying I've heard so often? "If Obama were to announce a bill in favor of oxygen, all republicans would suffocate to death." They seem to be against things only because democrats are in favor of them. Although I think the current "negative" intentions that make up the Republican party are a result of the Tea Party hijacking the party. They seem to speak a lot louder than the real conservatives do(I believe they are in there somewhere). At least this is just what I have noticed from my perception of how things have gone since the tea party formed.

And its not only the "negative" positions you hear all the time, its when a Republican Tea Partier say something like "Well if it was a legitimate rape".

Enjoy being in your rump Party.

I'm not a Republican. I never have been and likely never will be. They are nowhere near Conservative enough for my tastes.

On that we will have to respectfully disagree.

Negativity, when based in reality, makes perfect sense. Or do you subscribe to Pollyanna's version of life?

The DEMS were always negative against Bush ....but there's is a difference with todays right wing negativity towards Obama. DEMS did not embark on a crusade to destroy the country as their only plan. Everything the right is about today is to tear down the economy ....just to blame Obama.

There's no more thinking on the right ....there's only reacting to want Obama does or says .....OBAMA says...Yes...they say NO........Obama say right ...they say left. How did Vladimir Putin end up being glorified by the right wing ....is it just because he's at odds with Obama? :(

This negativity leaves the republicans no choice ...but to cater to this insanity!! The right have very little time to ....talk about a plan for the country. Yes ...there's old re-cycled material on websites ....books etc. But that get's droned out in this negative fury towards Obama.

Right now ....Hillary Clinton has no better supporter ....than this right wing negativity!! Trust me ...the country is deadly afraid of the lunatics you people want to put in office ...and that's why Democrats ...with a stagnant economy .....is still looking good today.

All we see from the right ....is a desire to put an ANGRY GEORGE BUSH ...back in the WH...and the country wants no part of that!!

Way to verify the OP's post.

Honest being the operative word here. The problem is that business has to be kept on a leash by government or the consumer gets screwed. I see insurance companies as foxes guarding the hen house and think they are the main culprit in our broken system. They do not belong in the picture. They do all they can to weasel out of paying claims and actually providing the service we pay them too. Derail, I know.

Negativity, when based in reality, makes perfect sense. Or do you subscribe to Pollyanna's version of life?

Negativity is not reality it is a style and reflects someones attitude towards life. You can disagree, even vehemently, but still have a constructive debate the edges you towards compromise and solutions. This is what the two party system was originally intended to do.

I try very hard to judge each person based on how they present themselves rather than labeling them as a party member and then not listening anymore. But I am forced to agree with you the there are consistencies within the conservative party of anger, short term thinking, self centered thinking and inability to compromise. It is like winning is held above all else. Very destructive.
