The number of jobs lost since the start of the pandemic hit 39 million this week, said Eric Morath at The Wall Street Jour*nal, and economists and policy*makers are asking how many will come back. A month ago, 88 percent of workers who lost their jobs "called their absences temporary" believing they would be "returning to the same job within six months." But that may be wishful thinking.

While some businesses reopen, "restaurants and other small businesses are closing up shop for good," and several national retailers have declared bankruptcy. "

When do furloughs turn into layoffs?

Many industries that are "already under pressure from digital competition will have trouble coming back," said Noah Smith at Bloomberg. Airlines, too, could face permanent disruption if teleworking cuts into business travel, and higher education will never be the same.

The GOP knows workers are reluctant to come back and risk getting sick. But if McConnell has his way, "they'll get kicked off unemployment if they don't." The GOP plan seems to be to"coerce Americans back to work by refusing desperately needed help" — whether or not there are any jobs to be had.

The GOP is once again demonstrating stupidity and more negligence. Through GOP negligence COVID 19 is everywhere ( Not New Zealand). No one knows when or if COVID 19 will retreat significantly as conservatives refuse to wear masks. As if they are immune to COVID 19 = their brains are rotting quickly.

When did COVID 19 actually penetrate USA borders? I say the USA has been led astray thus some people need to be prosecuted damn right.

This is really quite the phenomenon, isn't it?

Think back to the 2008 election, where you had Sarah Palin out reminding everyone that if you elected Obama, you would essentially be throwing granny off the cliff. Terrible thought, right?

Fast forward 12 years, and now you have that same party essentially telling you to risk your life for the sake of the economy. Yes, we know that some of you won't make it...but we have to take that chance in order for those that do to see a brighter tomorrow. Sorry Gamm Gamm.....youre expendable.....you've lived a good one, so if it ends up being you, big ups to ya.

Everyone else, get back on the line.
