Many Republicans are now saying that, barring a miracle, there will be another Clinton occupying the White House after the 2008 elections.
"If the conservative movement and Republicans don't understand how massive the Clinton coalition is, she will be the next president. Clinton will win, if we don't use everything available to us and motivate our base, the people that believe in us." -Tom Delay

I know this is going to irk a lot of Conservatives, and that is why I posted this wake up call. Unless the GOP gets its act together, The Clintons will be back in control.

Article is here.

Well the Reps and the Dems may be over thinking this. I have several friends that are Dems and none of then would vote for her. Their reasons range from she is to right wing to she changes her views to often. I don't know I can only hope that the Reps get their heads out of their *** and do something.

Still think Obama has more of a chance of winning, and if it were between the two I'd likely pick Obama. But what's with this Guliani being the GOP's Obama? DUN DUN DUNNN

Thank you for your concern. It was so kind of you to post this wake up call and in no way was it 'irksome'.

If the conservative movement and Republicans don't understand how massive the Clinton coalition is, she will be the next president.-Tom Delay

That's true.

I sure as h*ll wouldn't want to be a dimocrat running against her. They are the ones in real danger.

The real and present danger to the dimocrats is success in Iraq. They are going to do everything in their power to see that this doesn't happen.

I guess we Americans are going to have to choose which side we're on.

You know, though...I don't know a single person who voted for Bush besides myself...and he won twice.

I do hope the GOP takes the Hillary threat seriously. Otherwise, we are going to have that jackal sitting in the White House...

While I agree what Lott says, that doesnt translate into "The GOP view Clinton as Virtually Unbeatable".

Exactly what I was thinking. It's an extremely slanted and biased headline.

I know you want to irk Conservatives but it does not irk me at all..In fact I have said many times I hope and pray she gets the dem nomination......There are 3 or 4 republicans thant would clearly kick her *** in a general election including Guiliani and Mccain.......Sadly I think Edwards will get the dem nomination.

Hillary would be so much more fun though with all the baggage she has........

...well she does have the furniture for a white house win... :doh
Oh, that's right. I forgot about the Clinton's stealing the White House furniture. Bill and Hillary were really class acts, weren't they?

Remember some of the jokes:

"Clinton is crazy. When he moved out, you know, I mean, he — honest to God — they just, he took everything he hadn't nailed." —David Letterman

"The Clintons are being criticized for taking furnishings from the White House including sofas and tables. I don't know how much stuff they took, but I understand at their home in Chappaqua you can still sleep in the Lincoln bedroom. ... I guess that is two commandments that Clinton seems to have trouble following." —Jay Leno

"Apparently Clinton and Gore had a very mean little fight after Gore lost the election, and they blamed each other. Clinton blamed Gore for not running on the administration's record and Gore blamed Clinton for his integrity issues, which Clinton apparently really still does not understand because his last words to Al Gore were, 'Hey, give me a hand with this couch.'" —Politically Incorrect host Bill Maher

"This week Clinton has proven why they call him 'the comeback kid.' You know? I mean every time people see him they go, 'Hey, come back with that table! Hey!'" —Jay Leno

"President Clinton was featured in a foreign documentary. He was nominated for an Academy Award. Did you hear this? I believe it is called 'Crouching Intern, Stolen Sofa.'" —David Letterman

"How many of you remember President Clinton? You wouldn't have thought it looking at President Clinton that he liked art, but he and his wife Hillary stole about 70 pieces. In fact, the only still life he didn't take was Al Gore." —David Letterman

:rofl

I'm hoping that the GOP pulls it's head out of it's butt and gets a candidate out there quickly who will have the sense to ask Condi to come on as VP. Counter the inevitable ????/Obama ticket with a ????/Rice ticket.

<off topic>
You didn't really think that Obama's really looking for the POTUS spot, did you?, He's seen as too young and inexperienced, but as a VP, he brings a lot to the table as far a the ticket is concerned. Rice has the problem of being too closely associated with the current admin, but like Obama, she brings a lot to the table as a VP.

I don't think she wants it. If she did, she has had more than ample time to excert herself and her ambitions for the job. The last thing in the world, any one of us needs, is for someone to apply for the job because they were strongarmed.

:rofl Ah they just won't admit it. ;)

I agree whole heartedly about the jackal analogy, fits perfect.

Did it occur to you that DeLay might have said that BECAUSE it would irk a lot of conservatives? If your base is highly motivated to stop the Clinton boogeyman, they tend to donate more time and money.

But that doesn't necessarily mean that he actually thinks she's unbeatable. Her odds at this point are about 50-50, just like almost every other potential nominee.

As somone once said: "BRING IT ON !!!!";)

And here I am without any new Clinton jokes...:(

It always amazes me when Forum members write that any group of Americans wants us to fail in Iraq. It is truly one of the most ridiculous and untrue things anyone could ever post.

Why is that some of you equate some American's genuine concern and belief that this war is wrong and that by ending it the country will be in a better place and that does not mean that we want to not have success in Iraq. What it means is that we do not think it is possible to be successful in Iraq due to many reasons debated here many times.

Your post sickens me in it's absolute hatred for the 70% of your fellow countrymen who want to get out of Iraq and these same 70% do not want us to fail...The only failures that are those caused by Bush's policies and the way he and his moronic bunch of advisors conducted the war...that is where you will find failure.

Assuming Obama was the Dem. VP and Rice did accept a Republican VP I would love to see it.
Personally though....I think Obama would run circles around Rice in a debate. That's not to say that I think Rice wouldn't make a good VP candidate....I just don't think that she would do that well in a debate against Obama...that's all.

"In GOP circles, the Democratic front-runner is seen as so strong, and the political climate for Republicans so hostile"

 Oh please.

ITS FEBRUARY 07.

This is nothing but a pumped up headline to spur readership. The last time I heard about how someone was so far ahead of the pack was about 6 months before President Dean was elected.

Well I believe your percentage of 70% who want us out is skewed as well as your ability to see what your buds, the 5th Columnists dims, have been preaching ever since they voted to go into Iraq. Talk about hatred. The dims are driven by hatred which they can't put aside for the good of this country. If they had STFU instead of emboldening the insurgants 24/7 with their doom, gloom, failure, surrender,VN quagmire, Bush hating rhetoric we would have been out of there by now.

I guess what is sickening is in the eye of the beholder. Personally, sickening to me is someone who calls our military a 'moronic bunch of advisors' while basking, wallowing in and worshiping liberalism from the safety of their little world due to the protection of a 'moronic bunch of advisors'.

Ran across this interesting little piece today. I'm sure it's not something that will be reported in the MSM.

Catcalls Drowned Out Hillary Fans At DNC Meeting

Barack Obama and Hillary Clinton got very different receptions from the crowd at the Democratic National Committee's winter meeting, where all of the party's presidential candidates spoke.

Obama and the crowd exchanged "I love you"s and other endearments as he took the stage. And through the whole of his speech, the audience chanted, "You can do it!"

Clinton's welcome was not just less enthusiastic, but hostile -- and though there seemed to be almost as many Clinton placards as there were people in the room, catcalls drowned out any roars of approval from her cheering section as she began to speak.

Obama better watch his back.

Not until you look at the context Lott says it in. Some Republicans are issuing a wakeup call, and a wakeup call is needed. Some of the same people here who say this is nothing are the very same ones who predicted Republicans keeping both houses of Congress. IMHO, if they don't wake up, take a hard look at the sorry state of the Republican Party, and start getting the GOP's act together, they will lose the Presidency too.

Well, sure -- but that is -also- different that saying she is unbeatable.
Lott's statement, in any context, is closer to 'we need to do this to beat her' that 'we probably can't beat her at all'.
