Why? Why would they do this?

It's like they want people to suffer.

Do they think they aren't reviled by enough people yet?

Let's vote these AMerican hate bastards out of office.

It's bad news. But could you please provide sources that aren't paywalled?

the bloomberg source isn't paywalled. That's why I provided it in addition to the Post.

OK. It seemed to be but I guess it was just a delay. Possibly related to bot checks.

Bernie fails as only Bernie can:

Vermont independent Bernie Sanders failed in an attempt to raise the corporate tax rate for large companies to 28% in order to pay for expanded child tax credits through 2026.

The 97 to 1 vote against Sanders’ amendment reflects a determination by many Democrats to resist any changes to the bill in order to keep pushing it through to passage, even for a provision that most in the party would favor.

The Democrats have already vowed to vote down all GOP amendments.

The Republicans are hoping that just one amendment will be enough to get Manchin or Sinema or someone else to hold it up. They're getting close to August recess time - if they don't get it done now, they won't get anything done before mid-terms, and thus, will probably never get it done.

That's their motive: delay.

There is a running thread on the amendments being proposed with live updates:

The GOP has been forced to very publicly reveal a lot of its cards in the past week or so. From using vets as political punching bags to voting against lowering people’s insulin costs, lots of ugliness.

Manufactured partisan outrage for the hoi polloi. Would be nice if we can just pass things that follows the rules.

They know the insulin dependent will have to find a way to pay, regardless.

Big Pharma has them by the balls more than the voters have them by the conscience.

"Oh yeah - **** vets, too. But thanks for your service!"

Ultimately, they are trying to kill a bad bill where Democrats have thrown in a Christmas wish list of items through reconciliation.

The issue with that provision is that it's not related to the federal budget.
