This telemarketing scam has been run by the Republican Party for more than 10 years now, and the humor of it has never failed to escape me. My boss is called by Tom Delay's office each and every year to be informed that he has won the GOP National Leadership Award, and an honorary chairmanship of the Republican Small Business Council. All of his friends are also called. So is almost every businessman in the Greater Houston Area. The kicker is that, after being informed of being the recipient of the award, the victim is then hit with a hard sell to give money. Hang on just a minute. Isnt this a leadership award? Isnt this an honorary chairmanship? I thought that these were given out for performance. They are not? You mean these are contingent upon the victim reaching deep into his pockets and giving his money away to those who are giving out the award? Say it aint so. Please, someone tell me that this is not a telemarketing scam. This award is like a standing joke here in Houston.
"Hey, did you get your award this week?". "Not today, still out of money from the last time I accepted the award." LOL.
However, you would think that the GOP gives this award out to Republicans, wouldnt you? Not on your life. After being notified that the president of our company was being offered the award again, this time from John Culbertson's office, I decided to do an internet search on this award. I just found an article from 2002 in which Tom Delay's office gave the award (hehe) out to a Liberal writer.

Repeat after me.
