GOP Lawmakers Used to Oppose Trump’s Embrace of Russia. No More.

High-ranking Republicans are now defending the president with debunked claims that national security experts say play right into Putin's hands.

Rep. Devin Nunes (R-CA) and Rep. Mark Meadows (R-NC). Pushing Kremlin disinformation.

For reasons we don't yet understand, Donald Trump has embraced the brutal Putin regime since early in his 2016 election campaign. In their efforts to protect Trump from impeachment charges that he engaged in a political shakedown of Ukraine using US taxpayer funds as collateral, the GOP is resorting to defend Trump by borrowing Kremlin disinformation from Moscow's hybrid warfare against Ukraine. And after six months, GOP Senate Majority Leader "Moscow" Mitch McConnell has still not brought up the bipartisan DETER Act for a vote on the Senate floor.

It is stunning that they continue to promote something that they have been briefed is a Russian intelligence directive.

Don't understand? They helped Trump win the election! What is there to not understand?

Re: GOP Lawmakers Used to Oppose Trump’s Embrace of Russia. No More.

Democrats seem to want to put all the blame onto Trump and yes, he is to blame for his crimes. But even worse than Trump committing crimes are the republicans who are aiding and abetting his committing crimes and even more, trying to keep Trump in the White House despite the fact that they know very well that he will continue to do things that are unconstitutional and a threat to this country.

Why would any of these Senators still protect Trump if they know that? That question has been asked by thousands of people and nobody can really pin down the reason for their blind allegiance to Trump, no matter what he does. Everyone assumes it's because each of them is just trying to save themselves and keep his or her job in Congress.

This is what I believe, I may be totally wrong but it's the only good reason that I can come up with to justify their denial of facts. I think this all begins with Mitch McConnell, not Trump. I believe the power lies behind Mitch McConnell.

Republicans have nominated and passed 171 Federal judges since 2017 and will try to get ten more nominees confirmed to the federal bench by the next election. If people aren't following these appointments closely, which most aren't, they wouldn't know that many of these judges are being confirmed against the advice of the American Bar Assoc.

Two days ago, Sarah Pitlyk age 42, was rated unqualified by the American Bar Association. Pitlyk is a former appellate law clerk for now-U.S. Supreme Court Justice Brett Kavanaugh who works for the Thomas More Society, the “national public interest law firm dedicated to restoring respect in law for life, family, and religious liberty.” According to the ABA, "her experience to date has a very substantial gap, namely the absence of any trial or even real litigation experience." So this young woman, at 42 years of age, despite the ABA stating she is not qualified to be confirmed as a federal judge, was confirmed and will have a job as a federal judge for the rest of her life. There's another confirmation hearing for appeals court nominee Andrew Brasher. If confirmed, the 38-year-old would be among the youngest circuit court judges. He has received a 'qualified' grade from the ABA.

Mitch McConnell is setting up federal judges that are right and even far-right conservatives that will sit on the bench for the remainder of their lives. Ultimately this will change the laws in this country exponentially and permanently. It's a power grab unlike any seen before and it's all because of Mitch McConnell. He has stalled more than 500 bills in the Senate and he's taking candidates for federal judgeship's on the recommendation of the Heritage Foundation.

The Heritage Foundation is basically a conservative think-tank and one of the most influential conservative public policy organizations in the United States. The Heritage Foundation was a major influence on the presidential transition of Donald Trump and the Trump administration. The foundation had a powerful say in the staffing of the administration. The Heritage Foundation rejects the scientific consensus on climate change. The Heritage Foundation is one of many climate change denial organizations that have been funded by Exxon Mobil. The Heritage Foundation - Wikipedia

So the bottom line in my way of thinking is that Mitch McConnell and the other republicans are willing to put up with Trump, try to do damage control when they can, lie and cover up when they can't and keep him in office as long as possible. All this for control of the federal courts for 20, 30, 40 or even 50 years. I think that to men like Mitch McConnell he would see that as a 'noble cause' and feel good about himself and totally unapologetic for Trump.

Trump gave Ukraine lethal weaponry. Obama didn't. Trump requested $17M for the European Deterrence Initiative. Obama requested $5M. Obama slashed defense spending. Trump has greatly increased it. Trump has aggressively sought US energy independence. Obama, not so much. Obama also failed to enforce his "red line" in Syria while Trump went about decimating ISIS which gave more stability to the region lessening Russia's ability to take advantage of chaos there.

Trump. it is clear, has been much tougher on Russia than Obama.

Oh, you can't say that. People get their feewings hurt when you remind them of the 150 Russians Trump killed or the 60 Russian Oligarchs he expelled from the US or giving lethal aid to Ukraine.

Only the most idiotic Liberal still lives under the Russia Russia Russia conspiracy rock. I am convinced they can talk themselves into anything.

Tweet by Olexander Sherba, Ukraine's Ambassador to Austria,

The ambassador is spot-on. I imagine "some ppl" is a reference to Rudy Colludy, Devin Nunes, Tucker Carlson, etc.

Whataboutism.

The US Gang Of Putin party is shilling Russian disinformation.

Perfect.

Impeachment proceedings should have been started on this years ago tbh. It feels like it is too late.

When you can disprove anything I said, please do so. You can't and so resort to ludicrous claims with no relation to reality. You probably blame Putin when your cornflakes get soggy. It's quite psychotic.

New dummass democrat propagandist horses*** talking point: 'If it contradicts democrat narratives then it is a devil's lie born in Russia.'

So, As President Trump being the worst thing to ever happen to Russia is a embrace?

Democrats = Unerringly & dangerously delusional about Russia

Trump. it is clear, has been much tougher on Russia than Obama.

Trump might think he's being tough because he's using a little bit of teeth while he's giving Putin a blow job, but at the end of the day, a blow job is still a blow job.

Fact free as usual.

I have to disagree with the "reasons we don't understand" narrative.

Trump has been involved with Russian mafia since 1979.

There is no reason to believe he is not financially and otherwise compromised.

Trump I a moron with a famous name in America, he has always been broke a d needed wealthy people or countries to bail him out and make him appear wealthy.

Now his family is doing the same thing, one billion from the Saudis for 666, paid by the Saudis to someone in the Whitehouse who could not get security clearance.

Then that country assassinated an American journalist in their embassy and nothing was done.

The corruption is so clear it's comical, but if trump says hoax, the ignorant stand in line cheering...

It really is a sad time in America...

I guess you got your feewings hurt

There are no Republicans (except perhaps for Trump) who are arguing that it was Ukraine and not Russia which interfered in the election.
There are Republicans who are arguing that Ukraine also interfered in the election (specifically by releasing information on Mr. Manafort, the result of which caused chaos within the Trump campaign).

Russia interfered in the 2016 election. They interfered when they sent agents to ensnare Trump campaign officials. They interfered when they sent nonsense to the Clinton campaign (which the Obama Admin eagerly used in court).
Everyone was deceived.

Don't blame me because the GOP has become the Gang Of Putin, repeating Russian disinformation.

Reagan would vomit in his grave if he could see how today's Republicans are Kremlin Kids.

It's really hilarious the way you've slurped down the Koolaid the lying Dems have provided for you. Trump has been MUCH tougher on Russia than Obama. That's simply a fact that no amount of robotic bleating about Putin will change.
