GOP freezes 'Attorneygate' hearing in the middle of Republican's statement

Something very interesting happened at the Attorneygate Congressional hearings today. A small group of Republicans attempted to adjourn them, via a procedural move. The hearing itself was frozen for a time while a private meeting was held in a back room. Finally, at 2:37EST, Senator Leahy made the following statement:

Whatever objection there was on the Republican side has been withdrawn..... I've been here 33 years and I've never seen it happen before.
Leahy then stated that the hearings could not be stopped, and that he would hold them during evenings and weekends if he needed to.
