Wonder who they plan to replace him with? :2wave:

<Republicans are coming close to the number of votes that they need to dump Donald Trump at their convention in Cleveland. >

<Reid Epstein of The Wall Street Journal reported:>

<The anti-Trump camp needs the backing of 28, or one-quarter, of the 112 Convention Rules Committee members, in order to place the issue before the full convention. A Wall Street Journal survey suggests it could be close. >

,Though a majority of the convention delegates are bound to support Mr. Trump, Mr. Evans’s count shows just about 890 delegates are personally loyal to the New Yorker. Another 680 oppose Mr. Trump. That leaves 900 delegates who are presumed to be “in play,” he said. The stop-Trump forces would have to take nearly two-thirds of them to block his nomination>

Good. Maybe they finally found out he was a Clinton plant the entire time.

If they pull that **** they only guarantee their defeat in the electio0n.

Thinking 'they' are damned if they do and damned if they don't... pretty sure a GOP defeat is looming up... I feel the pain more sane PUBs feel right now, I had it a few decades ago when I decided to leave the Party of Lincoln. But the PUBs worked long and hard to create the putrid petri dish that is 'conservative' politics these days.

Either way, Trump having a 'clean' convention or a delegate revolt, the party is in for a major overhaul. After a major defeat... :peace

If they nominate Trump their defeat is guaranteed. They may be vocal but there's just not enough simpletons in the US to elect that trash-TV scam artist to the White House.
What I find incredible is that the GOP would squander the opportunity of a generation. Hillary Clinton? There's only one way she wins this election- Donald Trump.

Not what I think.
He has the required number for the nomination. It should be his by all rights.

If the GOP and conservatives do not support him they shoot their selves in the head, as the SCt is of issue this election. Get behind him and they can win.

If they don't allow him to become the nominee, most of those he brought to this election will feel shafted and will be walking away from voting for the party. That twill be a loss for the GOP. Their only logical choice is to get behind Trump and his supporters to win, that is, if they really care about their values.

No it is not.
If they don;'t it is guaranteed.

Re: GOP Close To Dumping Trump As Coup Plotters Near Votes Needed To Cause Nomination

Let me guess....they'll try to replace Trump with Jeb Bush? Because he represents big oil companies that are scared witless about Trump not being a member of their team.

The hack job GOP candidates lost fair and square, now they want to cheat to try to salvage the election, but the people have spoken: Dump Trump and conservative voters will dump the GOP.

I don't know.

Half a year ago, I would have agreed. But, this election is so driven by childish, anti-establishment poison that the Big T could really pull it off. We have Bernie supporters saying they will vote for Trump for god's sake.

Which would be a major L for western civilization as a whole.

Did you thing that is some kind of refutation of what I said?
I assure you, it isn't.

There is no "right" to support. The system is ongoing, and the GOP owes Trump little. If they should go this route(which is admittedly not likely), you could just as easily make the argument that the Republican Party has a right to a real republican candidate. You need a better argument, yours is weak as ****.

It was simply establishing that a GOP defeat would be great.

and it would be spitting in the face if the parties base.

A guy that was born rich and has been a TV star can't become a viable candidate? Your Prime Minister was born rich and is a former TV star.

Even if the get enough votes on the rules committee, there is almost no chance the convention delegates would pass the rules change.

Re: GOP Close To Dumping Trump As Coup Plotters Near Votes Needed To Cause Nomination

A lot of Bernie supporters and anti-Clinton independents would guarantee a GOP victory in November if they dump trump. He's purposefully sabotaging his own campaign to get his bought-and-paid-for Billion-dollar team of politicians in the White House. Trump is the physical incarnation of crony-Capitalism, the American Empire and White Privilege. Bernie had no backbone, but he has invigorated a very large, very powerful, and very, very pissed off resistance against this plutocrat and his ambitions of world domination, and I believe they are going to be victorious, because never before in American history has our policies' evil been so very naked and raw.

Donald Trump, aka Con-Man's biggest Con yet: The 2016 U.S. presidential elections.

No. Your argument is weak as that would be going against the will of the voters.

Here is the thing that folks do not seem to think about.

It was the anti-establishment vote that drove the primaries. The majority were for Trump while the other anti-establishment votes were for Cruz.

Polling showed that Cruz supporters, supported Trump as their second choice.

You alienate Trump, they lose the anti-establishment vote, as they will not be voting for an establishment candidate.

its pretty much guaranteed with trump heading the ticket as it is.

It would be better than another Democrat winning.

The Republican Party does not have to follow the will of the voters. You could argue they should, but they are not under obligation.

And the thing you do not seem to think about: many of those who voted for Trump are not republicans, and you can make a good argument Trump himself is not a republican. The Republican Party has every right, possibly even an obligation, to do what is best for the party over what is best for Trump.

Right. Coincidence that that would mean Trump supporters staying home on election day, and your candidate (Hillary) getting elected?
Bwhaaa.

I did not suggest, state, nor imply what was best for the Republican Party. Maybe you should read the words written instead of assuming(wrongly) that you know what a person is saying.

Re: GOP Close To Dumping Trump As Coup Plotters Near Votes Needed To Cause Nomination

The Republican Party does not have to follow the will of the voters. You could argue they should, but they are not under obligation.
Are you not paying attention?
No one said they had to.

The argument was about ignoring the voice of their voters and what will happen if they do. They will lose if they do.

And the thing you do not seem to think about: many of those who voted for Trump are not republicans, and you can make a good argument Trump himself is not a republican.
Hilarious.
Trump is and has been for some time.

Many of those? Got numbers? Not saying that this is what you are arguing but ... How many of those really do not support Trump? An infinitesimally small number as compared to the whole? There is no reason to address that as there isn't that many.

As for those who aren't Republican and are voting for him anyways?
So what?

Unless the Party wishes to disown them and their donations, I would suggest they start heading them as part of the whole who want Trump.

The Republican Party has every right, possibly even an obligation, to do what is best for the party over what is best for Trump.
iLOL
What is right for the party would always be honoring the results of the primary which selected an eligible person, not going against it.

It is unlikely that there are many scenarios where that could play out. Trump isn't one of them, again, because they automatically lose.
