This thread is about the Republicans taking back control of the House floor, not the juvenile Democrats that are upset that the Constitution prevents them from doing what they want.

GOP aims to regain control of House floor

[...]

Ryan didn't commit to holding a vote on guns. House Republicans huddled Wednesday evening to plot their next steps. Many GOP members who emerged from the meeting said they didn't want to give in to Democrats and reward "bad behavior" with a vote.

The House is expected to come back into session between 9:30 and 10 p.m. ET and will try to have two votes that aren't related to guns. In an interview with Blitzer, Ryan dismissed the sit-in as a "publicity stunt."

In 20 to 50 minutes from this posting, there may be a showdown on the House floor, as Republicans attempt to take back control of the House from the Democrats.

Here's a link so you can watch it happen live if you wish: Congressional Democratic Sit-in Continues House | Video | C-SPAN.org

If nothing else, it ought to be fun to watch...

Thanks for the link, watching from Panama with slow internet, so will wait and see, if possible, the fireworks... seems that the chants from the Dem side are pretty audible...

Looks like the Speaker has chosen to ignore the Democrats and move forward as best he can with the business of the House.

Now they're singing "We shall overcome" on the floor.

So, they want to overcome the Constitution. Nice.

It looks like a banana republic.

Greetings, apdst. :2wave:

I figured it wouldn't last too long, since there were over 160 people who hadn't bathed or changed clothes in a while, all crammed into one room, sitting on a carpet that has had God-knows what tracked on it for weeks! Phew! The smell of body odor, if nothing else, would soon become a real good reason to reconsider the sit-in plan, not to mention looking like a bunch of kindergarteners throwing a hissy fit in the meantime, rudely shouting over the Speaker who was trying to restore order!

This isn't the 60s any more - time has moved on, but some humans haven't, it appears. :failpail:

They should be singing, "We're off to see the wizard."

That just gave me a great idea.... The Reps. should have held a Conservative Chili Cook-off and then after sampling all the various chilis, "crop-dusted" the congresscritters sitting on floor.

you want to change the 2ed amendment see ARTICLE 5 of the CONSTITUTION,the dems know they can not get 3 states to agree ,let alone the 38 it would take to ratify a change.
the democrats thank this is 1968,well it is not 1968 and they look like idiots,we are a CONSTITUTIONAL REPUBLIC,not a stinking democracy, and in our CONSTITUTIONAL REPUBLIC the rights OF THE FEW ARE AS GREAT AS THE RIGHTS OF THE MANY,that is why we do not have white only signs on buildings, the democrats love the CONSTITUTION when it works for them and try to circumvent the CONSTITUTION when it does not.

run don run

Maybe they should put up a large poster of the US Constitution with a large red "X" over it, and play the Doors song, "This is the end" over the speaker system:

This is the end, beautiful friend
This is the end, my only friend, the end
Of our elaborate plans, the end
Of everything that stands, the end
No safety or surprise, the end
I'll never look into your eyes, again
