Google blacks out sensitive areas in numerous countries. Not just the US. It does this at the request of those countries. Some of the more detailed imagery is from aerial overflights instead of sat imagery. If Google didn't cooperate with the requests of these countries then they would have difficulty securing overflight clearance for the more detailed imagery that their customers actually value more.
