I'm sorry, but it's the same in the relevant context. It being spam email is not relevant, it's grasping at straws because you want to make this a right-wing issue. The OP wasn't even a spam email, it was some guy's site. Do you think those who push to take away your right to self defense will willingly give up their private security teams on the same ethic? You can't arbitrarily restrict the 2nd amendment and reasonably call it a right. It has nothing to do with "needing" certain weapons, it has to do with justifying taking them away. What's a right if you can't at least expect a rational justification for it's restrictions? We may as well say "You don't NEED anti-American speech for the first amendment. Now, I'm a pro-first amendment person. I say political things like 'god bless the USA' all the time, but I don't agree with these nuts who say you have to be able to disagree with me in order to have free speech! There's still some things you can say!" Well, I already presented an example that applies to the other side. You grasp at straws to refute it, saying it only counts if its a spam email. I can point to plenty of lies the pro-gun control people constantly go to, such as the notion that America has the highest crime rate of the 1st world, but that doesn't matter I guess because it wasn't EMAILED to them. Or maybe it was. I don't know. I don't get a lot of political spam.

Now you are trying to deflect the conversation away from knee jerk ranters. I never said you use Mitch alot, just trying to force an out of context quote into an outright fabrication thread gives the appearance you like the example. You also say many liberals use the quote out of context and believe it to be the only thing he said... you have done some study/discussion on this. ;)

I do believe you are trying to lean the mitch mess to suit. Mitch did say those exact words, but I didn't say he said it was his ONLY goal.

Odd you don't know who Sherrod is, I did link her to Brietbart and his use of her words in a highly edited form to quote her out of context.

The attempt to turn a few knee jerk ranters showing their butts into yet another debate on the 2nd A is something I won't do... please at least attempt to stay on topic- there are dozens of other threads for discussing that.

The point I am trying to make with you is keeping the examples apples to apples like misquoting Sherrod to Mitch and calling a state senator virulent anti-'gun' with calling Obama a muslim.

The only other point I wanted to make was how some who truely enjoy calling others epic fails, morons, low information, Pavlovian are everything they accuse others of-

First of all, he's not a sitting Senator, he resigned after this story broke four years ago... why? Not because of his alleged gun hypocrisy, but because he often let young men "transitioning back into society from jail or prison"... The young man who allegedly tried to force his way through the front door was, shall we say, not unfamiliar with the senator.

Allegations of sexually abusing minors soon followed... but wait... it gets better... errrrr.... worse...

In 1983 he was indicted for conspiracy, vote buying, perjury, and aiding and abetting bribery.... though three of the charges were dropped and the last he was acquitted of.

Ya, totally pavlovian... almost every person on this thread. too freakin' funny!!!!

I am enjoying it, no need to know if this guy ate human hearts or jaywalked- the OP was virulent anti-'gun' politician shoots intruder. And then the usual suspects almost fell over themselves to out do each other over 'elite' and take from the common folks. For all some call other posters morons, and the like it did my heart good to see this thread go the way it did. :peace

Agreed, totally... but getting the added kick that no one seemed to know that he wasn't even a sitting senator... much less anything else about the man. This was one step shy of an Onion story.

That and it took only 25 posts for the thread to slide completely off topic.

What's interesting is that this thread started at all, born out of disregard for the facts, intellectual laziness and the intersection with the rightwing noise machine (this same OP is all over the rightwing blogosphere) with an ideological drive so perverse that within a post or two the usual suspects were already talking about elitist libs and their hypocrisy.

In that sense it has been informative as to the intellectual thuggery of gun lovers.
