President Donald Trump said on Tuesday he planned to start "phasing out" the Federal Emergency Management Agency after the hurricane season and that states would receive less federal aid to respond to natural disasters.

Trump also said he planned to distribute disaster relief funds directly from the president's office.

"We're going to do it much differently," Trump said in a briefing at the White House in response to a question about when he planned to eliminate FEMA and what his message was to governors regarding states bearing more disaster-relief costs.

"We're going to give out less money," he said.

"We're going to give it out directly. It'll be from the president's office. We'll have somebody here, could be Homeland Security."

In an apparent reference to his plans to wind down the disaster-relief agency, Trump added: "I'd say after the hurricane season we'll start phasing it out."

The U.S. hurricane season officially began on June 1 and lasts through November. The National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration forecast last month that this year's season would be above normal with as many as 10 hurricanes....

So Trump wants to be in direct control of disaster relief funds. What could possibly go wrong?? I wonder if the maga cult would cheer as loud if a Dem president with an attitude likes Trumps did the same thing. In this case we are almost certain to see Trump deciding how he distributes aid based on who he likes and dislikes. Probably trying to blackmail blue states into doing what he wants in all sorts or ways by withholding aid until they do exactly what he requires. And again the deranged cult will cheer this destruction of the US. I guess we will need the next Dem president to behave just like Trump so that we might be able to get bi-partisan legislation through congress to ensure that we can never again see another mentally ill president behave like Trump.

Elect an idiot, get idiotic policies. I think you're spot on about this being a power play and leverage against states he doesn't like. At the same time this doesn't bode well for red states either since he's planning on giving out less money, and we've already seen Alabama put on hold before receiving the money for their recent floods.

Don't you americans worry about it. Trump has a plan to deal with those hurricanes.
Donald Trump has reportedly suggested on more than one occasion that the US military should bomb hurricanes in order to disrupt them before they make landfall
According to US news website Axios, the president said in a meeting with top national security and homeland security officials about the threat of hurricanes: “I got it. I got it. Why don’t we nuke them?”
“They start forming off the coast of Africa, as they’re moving across the Atlantic, we drop a bomb inside the eye of the hurricane and it disrupts it. Why can’t we do that?”

Come hell or high water, tRump is going to press his bigger and more powerful button before his time is up. Letting him drop it on a storm might actually be the best case scenario.

Hurricane Pablo could be one for the history books!

Most states vulnerable to hurricanes are red states. What say you, red states?

Outstanding. Since most of those states affected by Hurricanes are Red, then the Finding Out is coming.

I sure hope they're not hoping for a government handout.

What these states need is a deep dig into why they aren't prepared, why they build in hurricane prone areas, where the states' money is really going, and where the corruption lies that's keeping these areas in a constant cycle of not being able to rebuild for themselves.

And that was Alabama that voted for him. If disasters hit blue states, it’s lights out for them- guess CA really better keep raking that underbrush.

Well, thank goodess my blue state has the money of a small country and can counter-threaten to withhold fed cash since we won't be eligible to receive any back.

With all that saved money, we can afford to literally build lakes to scoop into when fires hit.

Remember folks........

.......during covid he told Pence not to call governors that weren't appreciative, countless American lives were at stake and (maskless) maga loved every minute of it.

The likes or russia or china could attack a US (liberal) state right now and trump wouldn't respond.....

.....he'd probably use it as an excuse to invade Canada and Mexico, because he doesn't trust US intelligence anyway, besides putin and xi (strongly) denied it.

Interesting how maga and our foes often seem to share the same goals, yeah, to basically (punish) destabilize (dismantle) the United States.

No problem, just nuke them hurricanes.
