QUOTE clownboy;
Did you read the OP?
Yet another super special emergency tax, which btw they have no intentions of cancelling now that the super emergency is done.
.And if you thought they might just use that surplus to pay down their debt, nope, same OP says they're giving all that and a few million more to education
Effectively saying they don't have a surplus, but a debt after all.
Yet you would forsake Calyfornia for "cool to places like texas, colorado and arizona"inspite of the fact that they have a lower average pay rate then Calyfornia.:lamo
Cost of living is also way less, so you come out good. AND you don't get hit with super fun emergency taxes that last forever after.
First of all you appear to have misread my quote-I said leaving like its cool.
And the fact that things like lower costs of living, real estate values, state income tax, sales tax etc matter seems to escape you. Econ 101, you should consider it.
state income tax, sales tax
Whatever floats yer boat.:2wave:
In this case two outta three is bad. The only comparable is "Colorado".But i,ll say that Calyfornia is better because i can ski Bear Mountain and cruse off the coast on Bro,s boat on the same day.:rock
I've been watching the political machine in Sacramento for over forty years now.
Watch what's next of the Democrats agenda, they are going to go after Prop 13.
Repubs have been crying wolf about THAT for 35 years.
Shhhh…don’t tell those that have their head stuck in the desert sand but when gipper(Reagan) was the guv, and inherited a budget deficit from the previous administration; you ask what the gipper did?
:
We'll see, I will keep an eye looking west. But it sounds good so far.
I've been watching the political machine in Sacramento for over forty years now. Here is how it works during the past couple of decades.
The Democrats in the State Legislature always spend more money than there is in the state's tax coffers.
They always turn to the stupid gullible people of California and say we need more money, it's for the children, we have to raise taxes. And the stupid people of California believe the Democrats thinking it's for the children but it's not.
The Democrats get their new taxes and they repeat spending more money than the state has and again the Democrats turn to the stupid people in California and tell them they need more money for the children and they must raise taxes. And the stupid people again believe the Democrats.
Over and over and over it goes.
That last increase in the sales tax and huge state income tax increase on a minority of the taxpayers, where did that money go ? Not to the children in schools but to the teachers union retirement fund and to give a pay raise to all of the union state workers.
That surplus, it's already being spent. And soon Sacramento will be calling for new taxes and saying it's for the children.
Jerry Brown has a track record of playing a shell game, he moves money around.
Back when Jerry Brown was Governor during the late 70's and 80's, California had the best roads and highways in America. The tax coffers was getting low and Jerry Brown came up with an idea to get himself reelected. He needed to come up with a surplus. What he did was take the California gasoline tax that was solely used for maintaining California's roads, highways and bridges and had that money moved into the state's general fund. Then he told the gullible Californians look at my surplus. But look at California's state highways, roads and bridges today in California, some of the worse in the country.
Watch what's next of the Democrats agenda, they are going to go after Prop 13.
California is in the process of destroying a lot of small business trucking companies with the CARB truck and bus rule. Basically Jan 1 any truck older than 2007 better have a DPF filter or be off the road. It applies to out of state trucks as well that come to the state. The only exception for out of state truck will be a pass good once for only three days, that can only be had once a year. New trucks cost over 120,000. It looks good on the outside, its when you are inside that you see all the rotten stuff. The real fun has been all the rules changes in between when they started and now. CARB has managed to thoroughly muddy the waters nobody really knows what's going on.

I heard some owners of some trucking companies based in California bitching about these new California regulations last weekend. One said it would cost $11,000 per vehicle to bring his tractors to California standards.
They noticed that Mexican trucks that are driving on California's highways under NAFTA are exempt from these new regulations.
It's like I have to drop a dime or go on the internet to find out if it's legal for me to put a log in the fireplace on that cold rainy night last night.
Fort Ord seems to be on the wrong side of the tacks.
So how has those great plans for Fort Ord turned out ?
There sure were a lot of soldiers from California and other western states that did their basic at Fort Ord.
I know Clint Eastwood served at Fort Ord and Jimi Hendrix did his basic training at Fort Ord. Everyone I know who was drafted did their basic at Fort Ord.
Yes.I am the one that posted it.
the tax pulled the state outta its death spiral thank,s to Gov Brown.
Whats wrong with education?
Inspite of that the states credit rating has been upgraded.Amazing isn't it? :2wave:
Fact is, Reagan was a pragmatist.
Fact is, he did what he needed to do to pull Cali out of the red.
Just like Jerry Brown.
Hooray for Cali!!!
Budget problems worked out with a combo of spending restraint and new revenues.
This seems like great news.
I expect the usual suspects will arrive momentarily to explain why this is really bad news.
State Tax Revenues: Charts and Data
You liberals are so funny. Article notes the surplus is due to spending less not taking in more revenue.
In fact you might note above revenue is well off last year - hmm - even after tax increases. Funny main stream media doesn't tell us anything about that.
11,000????!!!!??? That's it? Holy **** I would love to know where they are getting their retrofits done. Mine and my contractors is gona set us back 17,000. We will be bitchin all the way.
