Going Back to Square One: Getting Political Labels Right.

Hmmmm about as expected althought some of the choices in the test didn't really fit.

I agree, I found myself wanting to say both and neither quite a few times.

My all-time favorite test is at the political compass - Political Compass Questionnaire. I bet most of you have taken it before, but if you haven't, be warned that it's pretty long. I'm setting in on taking it now (maybe I'll save the results this time).

Can't get my image to work, but if you count 1.5 to the left and 3.23 down, you get where I am. Close to Mandela and Gandhi, but a little further over to the right and maybe not quite so low. If you take the test you get an actual grid to count.


 

Mine wouldn't either and I lost it before I could count it but it was 0 Libertarian Authoritative and about +8 or 9 to the right.

The first puts me pretty conservative on all fronts....the other two put me a bit more towards center
 
The questions are very "american", but then again they are american sites. Got any international ones?
 
I know it's human nature to want to catigorize everyone but I hate the way people want to label everyone rather than actually listening to what they're saying and considering it independantly of which label someones been tagged with.
 

I know it's asking for something complicated to be more simple. I don't think having states decide gay marriage would put you all the way over in the authoritarian side. I would argue that although you have the federal goverment guaranteeing gay marriage in all states, you have more freedom that way, not less. No one is stopped from oppossing and shunning those who take part in them and the government is not making a moral judgement on behalf of the citizens of any state. But this is only regarding gay marriage.
