"God" claims the Qur'an is easy to understand, so why all the tasfirs?

Verse 19:97 - Yusuf Ali: So have We made the (Qur'an) easy in thine own tongue, that with it thou mayest give Glad Tidings to the righteous, and warnings to people given to contention.

Verse 54:17 - Yusuf Ali: And We have indeed made the Qur'an easy to understand and remember: then is there any that will receive admonition?

Really? Then why all the confusion and debate? If 'God' had said, "So have I made the Qur'an a cryptogram understandable to only the most learned", it would explain why we are told time and again that the Qur'an must be interpreted for us and explained to us by Qur'anic scholars lest we take the wrong meaning. But, 'He' didn't. 'He' states pretty clearly that no further explanation is necessary given that 'He' has laid it all out in plain Arabic.

There is no logical reason for even a single tafsir to exist, yet we're up to our armpits in them (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_tafsir_works) From the link, "Tafsir is a body of commentary and explication, aimed at explaining the meanings of the Qur'an". If there's so much to explain, it means 'God' failed in his attempt to make the Qur'an easy, and believe me, there is no way in Hell any Muslim bent on screwing virgins for eternity would EVER suggest such a thing in so many words. Yet, just the existence of tafsirs DOES suggest it. Ahmed, you've got a lot of splaining to do.

Additional dig: The fact that the Qur'an has to be explained, and that so many excuses have to be invented to cover up contradictions and errors, only goes to prove that it was authored by a man, not a god.

DOH! Mods, could you please change tasfirs to tafsirs in the title? Thanks.

I'd hazard a guess people made it hard to understand. Islamic scholars interpret the Quaran to suit what they want it to say, same as all other clergy.

Thats pretty much the same with every other holy book thats been written.

(This is) a Book which We have sent down to you, full of blessings, so that they may ponder over its ayat, and that men of understanding may remember.” Surat Saad: ayah 29.

It is the science of tafseer which is the fruit of ‘pondering over its ayat’.

The ayat quoted above indicate how it's easy for Muslims to remember God and memorize his revelation and Qur’an does not always mention the events or references for which each ayah was revealed, but these must be known for the ayat to be fully understood.

Nope. The OP quotes are very clear. In fact, the one you gave is interpreted by Arberry thus: "A Book We have sent down to thee, Blessed, that men possessed of minds may ponder its signs and so remember." So, not scholars as such, just "men with minds" and "men of understanding". A requirement of scholarly interpretation would be diametrically opposed to the reason for creating it in the first place, because it was written for the common Muslim, and to suggest otherwise is disingenuous. Think about it. The Qur'an was "God's" last attempt at communicating with Man, so for him to make it only understandable by scholars would be just plain stupid on his part. The only reason that tafsirs exist is that Mohamed-pretending-to-be-God did such a bad job of cobbling that little book of hate together. Just look at all the tafsirs that exist. If there are that many that had to be written, it's just further evidence of what an unholy mess the Qur'an is.
