'Global Warming Is Lies' Claims Documentary

Documentary 1: "Global warming is real"
Documentary 2: "Global warming is a lie"

It's all scientific theories. It can't really been proven to be truth or a lie until some valid data happens during our lifetime.

Should be interesting although channel 4 is sometimes prepared to not challenge some pretty deceitful claims appear as fact on some of their documentaries.

Anyway will make sure i watch that which will make my girlfriend happy im sure.

What did you think? Ive demonstrated against global warming in the past but even i found some of the arguments very convinceing. The most pertient point it made was that if our governments perspective on global warming is wrong then we are needlessly slowing down the process of third world development. This has encouraged me to read up on global warming because either way the decisions we make on the issue have massive repurcussions.

If we do not effect global warming but act as though we do then we are needlessly damageing the quality of life of those in the third world by halting development. If we do effect global warming but act as though we dont then we are needlessly responsible for the destruction of bangladesh through flooding. Eitherway the decisions we make on the issue could leave us with blood on our hands.

Ive got to say i found the documentary very unconvinceing at first because it was using all the usual straw man arguments. The usual culprit is the argument that the climate has changed naturally therefore people have nothing to do with it. This assumes proponants of global warming argue that a difference in climate in itself indicates our role in bringing about this change. Thats not what there argueing. What there argueing is that the climate is changeing faster then it should be. Therefore all this talk about the medieval warm period e.t.c is largely irelevant.

The arguement i did find convinceing is that the more heat the sun emits to the earth, the more Co2 is produced. Therefore the correalation between co2emmitions and climate change does not mean that industry is changeing the climate.

That said this doesnt mean ive turned into a global warming sceptic. Im probably more of a global warming agnostic at the moment.

Thats about where I stand....

As for Global Warming slowing down the growth of third world countries, I don't know if its the case yet. Look at China, nobody is critical of their industry explosion, and the pollution they are going to be responsible for. Now I know that China isn't third world, but I think the reason third world countries aren't developing or being developed has alot more to do with the actual apathy that people in western civilizations(europe and the US) have for third world countries, rather than fears of climate change.

Well china and india are developing in a manner that emits alot of polution at the moment but theres efforts underway to stop that. This becomes a bigger issue when you come to places like africa which could develop using oil and gas but are being encouraged [by some quarters] not to. One particually big issue there is electricity
