Glenn Beck Totally Loses It: Buy Farmland & Guns

…that he directed people to a highly partisan youtube, highly dishonest and edited portion of Beck’s show.
You’ve seen that show in full?

I noticed one edit jump in there (it was video of video, so hard to tell if that is an artifact). But I’m am really curious exactly what kind of context would move what he said out of the batsh!t crazy range into the “annoying” range?

I don't care what political lean you have, owning land is a very wise investment ...and so are guns.

What are you willing to give up to buy them? An education? A higher paying job? Unless you're a fulltime trained farmer don't expect a lot of income from a farm.

In the real world there are oppurtunity costs to buying real estate, usually very large costs.

So Glenn Beck has seemed to gone of his rocker again when talking about Obama. Complains that Obama is "dividing America" while at the same time telling people from the East Coast to "get out of there.. and surround yourself with like minded individuals". Also everyone needs to buy guns and farmland. Why? Who knows? Supposedly because "Obama will regulate everything".

What a nut case.

Someone should tell Glenn Beck that all the farmland in the U.S. is already owned, primarily by major agribusiness outfits, and even though they're registered as Republicans, they still want their government subsidies.

Beck is a tool. Always has been.

Its called "rage radio" and "rage cable news." They all do it. To watch MSNBC is to know we will all be dead or at least close to it if Romney won. Watch Fox and it is certain that if Romney lost there will be a flag with a red flag with hammer and sickle in it over the White House within a month.

Glen Beck is no different.

He does raise - in that mess - a semi-valid point. It is wise - if you have that option - to live in a community consistent with your values. If you are a pothead, don't live in Oklahoma. If you are a gun freak, don't move to NYC or San Francisco.

I love it, a thread designed and OP'd to bash a talk radio host, and anyone who listens to this host, but when those bashing are asked what they listen to all of the sudden it's like top secret....pathetic.

We agree...see Dan Rather and John Kerry for example.

Yeah, Beck and Dan Rather are equivalent.

Man, the conservatives are in total defense mode.

So you won't say? Come on man, don't be scared. Who do you listen to?

It doesn't even really matter. Listening to something doesn't mean you agree with it.

I know it's circumstantial evidence, but I know many privately owned small farms here in Colorado.

I know California is huge agribusiness territory though.

ubercon listeners, real conservatives avoid extremisms of any kind...

I don't think so. I think the ubercons run the GOP show. Look at their candidates. Look at what Beck and the rest say and what happens.

Beck and Limbaugh attack Lugar. Lugar loses primary to extremist tea bagger who loses the general election. Beck and Limbaugh blame the GOP for being too moderate. Rinse and repeat.

I bet if I look at the demographics of Beck, Hannity and Limbaugh (which are in the tens of millions) they are basically a cross section of conservatives.

so don't buy land or guns for yourself. <shrugs>

too late to try and guide me away from doing so, though...to be exact, you're 2,876.7 acres and 38 guns too late

Personally I don't think for a minute that Beck believes the **** he shovels. Like most of these pundits he's just saying whatever he thinks he needs to say to boost his ad revenue and book sales. Which makes it that much more depressing that people actually take them seriously.

I know California is huge agribusiness territory though.

I know many privately owned small farms here in Florida too.

But the farmland being sold from those families to agribusiness is getting larger and larger every year, especially as it becomes more difficult for those family farms to compete against agribusinesses.

Great. Beck's your guy! I'll put my money in education and productivity, and you hole up in a compound. We'll see who comes out on top.

Query: what do you expect to do with 38 guns that you can't do with one?

Was Beck "reading" Thoreau again or something?

The funny thing is, short of gathering enough in an area with some kind of strange hope to secede, this does nothing but actually SPEED UP the Republican fall (in terms of moving to areas away from those unlike you politically).

If you're advocating people move for political reasons, the more intelligent thing would be urging them to move TO states with people who don't think like they do politically...specifically swing type states. At least then you'd have the small chance of swinging the electoral population and gaining some additional electoral votes.

Having everyone run away from Virginia or Ohio or Iowa or such into deep red states doesn't do anything but actually speed up the Republican problems.

"Bleeding Kansas"!

I notice the video that guy played was edited, I listened, he didn't lose it. Typical socialist desperate to paint Beck as crazy.

Just to add to what I have said, Beck is certainly entertainment in much of what he says on air, but let's listen to what liberals think is entertainment on their side.....

Ain't he great folks?

What possible context would makes Beck's claims become any more freakish?

"Quick, change the subject. Maybe nobody will notice."
