Granted, I rarely watch FOX News or cable, seeing as I don't have it. However many people state he's a complete fear-mongering liar. Is it true he spews nothing but lies? That he has no points whatsoever? Have any of you perhaps researched the issues that he brings up on his show? You see, I'm usually skeptical, I sympathize with a mahority of his views... but I'm very skeptical of the issues and facts he presents. Even if I already agree with someone 100% I'm NOT going to lap it all up without verifying his facts or reasonably understanding his thoughts/notions.

Now, I'm NOT experienced in what Beck says, so don't debate me on it. I do want to know if you think everything Beck says is nothing but lies or if he might just have some things riight.

Your thoughts?

Well I don't watch him, but I will say that flipping through the channels and coming across his show I have seen him say numerous times, "Don't take my word for it, do your own research."

That's not something you'll hear on the Rachel Maddow show.

That's his bluff. Those who do the research, find it's BS. His followers don't do the research, are even reassured by his statement and are sucked into his scam, such as his gold fraud.

Hey, did ya miss where SNL said Beck was right about gold? LOL

Anyway, Glenn lies all of the time. If you don't believe me, read Huffington post and Media Matters.
They caught him in a whopper a while back. Scroll down and watch the clip where he admits it on his radio show.
He lies so much, I'm sure hundreds more will be posted to this thread. This one is just the tip of the iceberg.
Feel blessed that you don't get fox news.

He introduces himself, so it's not all lies.

But from what little I've seen of him, the problem is not so much lies as the sheer amount of bias.

The only bias I see is maybe a little bias toward socialists and communists. I guess that could be a problem for some.

Bias: a particular tendency or inclination, esp. one that prevents unprejudiced consideration of a question; prejudice.

I think there's no doubt there's plenty of bias in his show.

What happens is that while his facts are rarely in dispute, there are a couple of problems. One is that he only presents facts that support his views and not everything. The second is that he uses those facts to come up with wild theories about history. While what he says has some basis in truth in that he draws it from history, his conclusions are rather fantastical and unsupportable due to that incomplete picture of history.

So... you literally think there's a communist/socialist takeover happening?
And you wonder why the left is against gun possession?

Like if you bought some when he first mentioned it at $700, you'd have now doubled your money? Whoa...what a fraud. :)

Good God, is that all you can get the guy on? He claimed that he had "held" a document that he had only actually looked at? Is that the best you can do? Is that even an "issue"?

You guys claiming that Beck "lies all the time" have just lost any credibility you had with me.

Glenn has a tendency to take nuggets of information and spin them more than a top. I am pretty sure that he could devise a theory that Mother Theresa was an evil and vile woman if he wanted to. That's what he does. And if one of his disciples ever has a moment of wanting to "look it up," I am sure Google can find some remote idiotic blog written by some crazy in mom's basement that contains similar theories.

That is Glenn Beck.

A good description of the work of most modern historians.

But Beck isn't saying to look it up on a blog or biased website. He's saying: "Do your own research." That part's on you. You should be able to factually research his claims and if you can't then either dismiss his claim or improve your search of facts.

the company he shills for sucks. yes, gold goes up, but it's doubtful those actual customers make much.

They do. I can personally attest to that. :}

I did, he was wrong about Rockefeller and Rock center.

I believe she was being sarcastic. Then again, I don't know for sure.

With that issue you're not going to find absolute evidence. Similar to if you strongly believed something had a certain quality and even though you were sure people wouldn't believe you. Personally, when I see the hammer and sickle equipped to two large statues on the sides of an entryway, I sort of wonder. But then again if such surmising is pathetically insane, then if those same statues had, what say, obscure Nazi objects as an example (not as a Swastika but something of the same magnitude of relationship like the hammer and sickle of communism), then I'd also have to be just as insane.

I hope this isn't a revelation to you, but you do realize that anyone can pretty much find any information to "back Glenn up" on the web, right? For instance, if Glenn Beck said that Bush was Hitler, and said "do your own research," do you not think there'd be links backing that up? Here, if you don't believe me:

But that same argument can be used by anything not Glenn Beck. Even then, people like Olbermann, Matthews, Schultz, Malloy, and Maddow don't even advise people to do their own research. At least that way critical people like me can research such facts.

Furthermore, I ask that people stop saying that other people would just look up partisan hack websites. Any true critical person would avoid such sites, try to find factual evidence, and then reason internally on such facts and notions.

And all of those people are of the same stripe, so the argument fits.
