GIRLS as young as 14 are getting Brazilian waxes, a trend experts have labelled ''pornification'' of teenagers.
Intimate beauty treatments are becoming popular with girls as boyfriends demand they look like porn stars, the experts say.
Leading child protection advocate Hetty Johnston said the trend was ''scary'' and called for legislation to stop it.
While you must be 18 to get a tattoo in Queensland, as well as some types of intimate body piercings, there is no age limit on waxing, although many salons require parental permission for under-16s.
With the formal season about to start and Schoolies just around the corner, beauticians are seeing an increase in girls grooming for the big events.
Author Melinda Tankard-Reist said the ''pornification'' of youth culture was having a diabolical effect on young girls' body image.

Girls of any age beyond puberty have always trimmed/shaved their pubes in order to wear bathing suits, just like women of every age.
The average woman's pubic hair naturally extends beyond the area covered by a swimsuit.
Nobody wants to see young adolescent girls gallivanting around in public with wads of pubic hair hanging out both legholes of their swimsuits, any more than anyone wants to see adult women in this condition.
The reason you don't see this is that girls have always trimmed or otherwise depilated their pubic hair so that a swimsuit modestly covers it.
In order for this not to be necessary, swimsuit bottoms would actually have to be more like shorts, since untended pubic hair tends to grow down one's inner thighs, whether one is male or female and regardless of what age one is.
Most women and girls don't want to have to wear shorts to swim in, as that would be unduly restrictive. We already have to wear tops in the water, unlike males.
Girls who participate in sports such as dance or gymnastics, which require participants to wear leotards, face similar issues. They'd prefer not to worry about tufts of pubic hair hanging out the leg-holes of their leotards, grossing everyone out and getting pulled every time they moved.
If teenage girls are now waxing their pubic hair as an alternative to shaving it or using a chemical depilatory such as Nair as they have in the past, that merely indicates that young girls now have more disposable income than they once did.
I don't see the crisis, frankly.
They are girls. GIRLS! They shouldnt even HAVE to worry about this crap. :2mad:
If i had a girl I would NEVER allow this! (plus she would NEVER have a webcam)
Society doesnt NEED this! Although Im not a christian per-se, I would think about raising her that way in order to instill values in her so that HAIR-LINE decision of her doing it.... or.... NOT doing it, doesnt end up as her DOING it!
PLUUUUUS.... dating under 18 would be 100% supervised. NO "alone" time.

The bolded is always a key indicator that the article writer has no idea what they're talking about.
Seriously, though, they're probably right.
If I were a 14-year-old boy, I feel I would be well within my rights to demand that my significant other not look like a wookie at the local swimming hole.
I mean, that would be totally awkward, don't you think?
They seem to think that this equates to wanting them to look like porn stars, though.
And frankly, I doubt many 14-year-old boys know how wookie-like their girlfriends would look at the swimming pool without the proper care.
*sigh* :slapme:
Seriously, Noodle: watch Towelhead.
It addresses this exact issue (among others), and it's based on the Alicia Erian's excellent memoir, by the same name.
Alicia Erian was born 1967 in Syracuse, New York to an Egyptian father and American mother.[1] She received a B.A. in English from SUNY Binghamton and a M.F.A. in writing from Vermont College.[2] A writer of short stories, some of her work has appeared in Zoetrope and the Iowa Review. She has published one collection of short stories and one novel. Erian lived in Brooklyn, New York, for a time with ex-husband David Franklin, but now lives in Massachusetts, where she taught creative writing at Wellesley College (2004–2008). She has worked as a film director and screenwriter, and has also attracted interest from Julia Roberts' production company, American Girl Films, as well as Francis Ford Coppola.
What about me? I am pressured by society to look young. I have to dye my hair. Does that mean porn is affecting me? WTF is wrong with people's thinking/logic. This is another thing that's dumb on so many levels.Their boyfriend's are pressuring them? They don't have minds of their own? All women are just victims I guess.

If you look a little closer at his right hip, I think you'll find that this wookie is a male.
nothing worse than a cross dressing wookie... perhaps if he'd "trim the hedge" a bit it'd be easier to tell.
They can't. That hair clogs up the razor too much.
