not that unusual. a matter of self preservation by the brides and exploitation of their circumstances by the grooms

i work with Montagnard refugees from vietnam
because they were allies of Special Forces during the war, and because they refuse to renounce their Christianity, the Montagnard people were accorded refugee status
however, it is a time consuming process and one fraught with the corruption indigenous to SE asia
the young women/older girls who performed essentially slave work in the coffee plantations awaiting their turn at the refugee lottery would often agree to become the wives of the older Montagnards who received authorization for passage to the USA

Muslims go around telling people not to drink: Christians go around telling people gay marriage is wrong. Both are expressions of religious beliefs.

Why would you condone Pedophilia?

After doing some digging, the vast majority of cases seem to involve the age range of 16-17. Of the remaining under the age of 16 I could find only 1 specific example - a bride of 14 with a groom of 20. So it isn't as though we're talking about 50 year old men marrying infants.
