The Germany of today is "the best Germany that has ever existed," President Frank-Walter Steinmeier said marking 30 years since the country's reunification. ... "The position that Germany has in Europe, the position that Germany has in the world today, the position the European Union has in the world today — all of those things were inconceivable 30 years ago, so it's a very historic period we're talking about."

We wish our German brothers and sisters continued success in taking a leadership position in the European Union for years to come.

Thank you, its imdeed a good day to celebrate.

But Steinmeier is an unelected idiot and not my president.

Thank you Ronald Reagan.

If it weren't for you, Germany would still be staring at the wall every day.

Thats bullshit of course. Reagan was a pathetic actor and demented. He is not even mentioned here.

Thank here is only for the brave people demonstrating in Eastern EGrmany, who managed a revolution without a single death. Thats unique in history. Then Kohl who never gave up on eastern Germany and last but not least Gorbatchew in the USSR, who allowed all this to happen.

Reagan can go to hell. We banned your embassy in Berlin to place a Reagan statue in Berlin, so they had to put it on their terrace.

Thats a german day that we celebrate, so dont push your clowns on us

All thanks to the United States.

All thanks to the United States.

You have nothing to do with it and the good thing is, that your bullshit is ignored over here to the degree that even Reagan statues are not allowed to be erected.

Thats what matters, you crave to acknowledgement and over here you only get spit in the face.

Congratulations to Germany. We wish you well.

We denied your 95 year old veterans to land in Berlin at the 70th berlin airlift celebration. They cried big tears because we did not allow those old zombies with no actual flight certificate, old aircrafts with no german certificates to land here and also banned them from pelting candy on us.

The best part was the angry 95 year old zombie who angrily saod he will never again come to Germany, also not at the 75 year celebration. In 5 years that old fart is long underground anyways.

I suppose some Americans who actually were alive during the unification of Germany and therefore consider themselves to be witnesses will remember seeing their president on TV saying "tear down this wall" in 1987. Since the wall was torn down two years later they consider these words alone were the cause of German reunification and that Germans themselves had no hand nor part events that occurred years later. Such a misunderstanding of history goes to demonstrate how some Americans think all history is about them when properly analyzed. Who is to blame for this? Probably their mass media must take some responsibility. Generally, Americans have little or no interest in other parts of the world.

btw - that does not mean that I think it was Reagan who made it, but must their be swaggering and insultations to foreign countrys in any post? Is that your definition of "debate"?

RR may not have been perfect, but it was his confrontational attitude towards the USSR and the American military buildup that finally made the Soviets quit because the latter had no money to pay for more weapons. That is fact.

Without the US staring down the Soviets, you guys would still be staring at the wall.

30 years later and you are still at Russia's teats begging for gas.

The truth is as everywhere in the middle. There where factors. But neither Rostocker alone did it nore Reagan alone with his war mashine.

shut the **** up Rostocker - you are humiliating the reputation of most of my countrymen again with your dumb swaggering. Speak for the 10% afd facists and not for Germany.

Says the one who is from a party that wants make pedophilia legal.

btw - that does not mean that I think it was Reagan who made it, but must their be swaggering and insultations to foreign countrys in any post? Is that your definition of "debate"?

Yes thats the definition of debate. You are a ami slave. Quite disgusting.

do you really believe that or is that part of your way to "debate", too?

Yes thats the definition of debate. You are a ami slave. Quite disgusting.

1. No. Never read any definition where insulting is part of debate
2. Because you say so? I´m just trying to be objective - seems a debate strategy that is not teached in the east. BTW irellevant for the topic. Populistic afd phrases with no backing

You pathetic greens were against reunion.

If I read your shit, I sometimes think it would have been better not to reunite - but I know there are a lot of decent people in the east

part of a song text from Marius Müller Westernhagen comes to my mind:

Es schreit der Chor der Dummen
wie immer viel zu laut

the shouting of the choir of the dumb
is as always much too loud

The Greens were against reunion and even said east germans love Honecker. Thats a simple fact. That you dont know this shocks me. Your own Party Leaders apologied yesterday for that and called it an unexcuseable mistake.

“The Berlin Airlift officially ended on 30 September 1949, after fifteen months. In total, the USAF delivered 1,783,573 tons and the RAF 541,937 tons, totalling 2,326,406 tons, nearly two-thirds of which was coal, on 278,228 flights to Berlin.[6] The Royal Australian Air Force delivered 7,968 tons of freight and 6,964 passengers during 2,062 sorties. The C-47s and C-54s together flew over 92,000,000 miles (148,000,000 km) in the process, almost the distance from Earth to the Sun.[6] At the height of the Airlift, one plane reached West Berlin every thirty seconds.[7]

Gee, I wonder how many Germans would have starved or frozen without those pilots?

Here’s a hint— a lot.
