A top German court has ruled that it is not a criminal offence to cut off the life support of a dying person if that person has given their consent.

The Federal Court of Justice acquitted a lawyer who had advised the daughter of a comatose woman to cut off her feeding tube.

Earlier the patient had expressed her wish not to be kept alive artificially.

BBC News - German court legalises euthanasia with patient consent

Good news.

I bet there'll be plenty of 'health' tourists out to take advantage of that.

Mind, given the state of many British hospitals today, patients from the UK wouldn't need to go to Germany to die!

True. Our equivalent of a Swiss suicide clinic is the NHS.

Cutting off life support is a far cry from euthanasia.

Not so much life support, more like MRSA or incompetent medics sending people home with 'flu' when it's actually something like meningitis!

I agree with Korymir. This isn't euthanasia. Essentially you are not prolonging the dying life of a consenting patient. They die because they no longer want life support to prolong the life of their pretty much dead body.

Wonder if you can have euthanasia by fatal disease? That'd be cheap to run, except for the mammoth bonuses for bosses of filthy wards of course......

Callous NHS bosses rub noses again!.jpg

VOTE LIB-LAB-CON! It's the new morality!
