One of the largest and last remaining 4 masters in the world, the german "Peking" was build in 1911.

After WW I she ended in Italy and was renamed, sold several times. Sailed under british and american flag and then ended as museum ship in New York.

There she was neglected and in horrible state. The americans pumped hundreds of tons of concrete in her hull to stabilize her. Her state in 2017 was so worn down, that there was little chance to save her.

Thats was her state then:

In 2017 Germany contacted New York officials and bought her back for as little as 100€.

She was transported over the Atlantic and arrived at the place where she was build...Blohm & Voss at Hamburg

She looked like a ghost ship and a shadow of the former glorious ship she was.

Now 3 years later and after a 80 million € refurbishment she left the yard in her former glory and will center piece of a new museum

The worst part was removing the concrete out of her hull, which some idiotic americans pumped in 40 years ago and thought that was a good idea...

Maybe she's more sailworthy than the Gorch Fock and should be handed over to the Bundesmarine (German Navy).
