If Democrats and Republicans on the National level continue to greet lawbreakers with open arms, there is always the states. Georgia has passed a law cracking down on illegal immigration. The way I see it, if the Federal government wants to shirk responsibility, the states have every right under the Tenth Amendment to do the job. If the Feds dont like it, they can stick it.

I am one of the biggest Bush bashers on this board. His Iraq war sucks, his spending sucks, and most of his policies suck, but where I do give him a lot of credit were his picks for the US Supreme Court (Harriet Miers excepted, but she was pulled). These picks will ensure that the Feds dont attempt to interfere with the Constitutional rights that the states are entitled to. On his court picks I give Bush an A+. In spite of Bush's many other failures, history over time might just judge his presidency as a successful one because he has shaped the Supreme Court for the next generation, ensuring the court will do its job interpreting the Constution, and not trying to rewrite it.

The Bush presidency may look like a complete disaster in the short term, but over the long haul, Bush will be remembered somewhat favorably due to his stance on judicial nominations. I believe that, many years from now, his presidency will have been defined by that stance.

Oh yes, one more thing.

Go Georgia!!!!

Show the rest of us how its done. :)

I hope the states follow in their footsteps, although I think the laws need to be harsher when dealing with the traitors who hire illegal aliens.

Those who hire the illegals are only doing it because the government is not enforcing the law. Actually, it is a crime right now to hire illegals, but many companies completely ignore it, and also ignore filing the I-9 forms, proving legality of employees, as required by law. In this case, its not the law that failed us, but the government's lack of enforcement of the law, on the Federal, State, and Local levels.

Another problem is the cut in police and other law enforcement officers. You can blame the Democrats for that one. Here in Houston, the cuts began under Democratic Mayor Kathy Whitmire, and Democratic Mayor Lee Brown (also Houston's former Chief of Police). Attrition of police officers was huge under both administrations. Bush cutting funds for law enforcement did not help either, but this started under the Democrats.

However, the situation is improving here. The Patriots began patrolling South Texas a couple of weeks ago. What the government refuses to do, let the American people do. :)

Those who hire illegals are traitors who are willing to sell their country's sovereignty just to save a few bucks on labor.

ALBANY - Sen. David Paterson is pushing a bill that would require cops to shoot to wound, rather than using deadly force - drawing outrage from officers.

The bill also would create a new provision for second-degree manslaughter that would be reserved specifically for an officer who "uses more than the minimal amount necessary" to stop a crime suspect.

Paterson, who is on Eliot Spitzer's ticket as lieutenant governor, has reintroduced the bill twice since first sponsoring it in 2001, refusing to let it die.

In a memo urging its passage, Paterson wrote: "There is no justification for terminating another's life when a less extreme measure may accomplish the same objective."

Current law gives cops a wide berth to use deadly force when a suspect presents a danger to another person's life.

However, the situation is improving here. The Patriots began patrolling South Texas a couple of weeks ago. What the government refuses to do, let the American people do. :)

It is sad when people can invade our borders, blatently fluant the fact they are violating our laws and then demand rights.

I got to say, that while I'm against illegal immigration, I have very mixed feelings about this law. The simple reason is because of the reasons argued for it's enactment. Gotta start some where though I guess.

You are correct.
They are the traitors who would sell out their country's sovereignty to save money on labor. If these people were not employing illegal aliens most of the illegal aliens would have no reason what so ever to come here.

The ultimate problem is with the voters, most of whom were perfectly happy that the invasion hasn't been an issue in the last dozen presidential campaigns. It's far more important to discuss the Texas Air National Guard than guards protecting our borders, clearly the threat in the next century from global warming is far more important than the threat to our economy in the next decade to a bunch of illegal freeloader, to mention just the last two elections.

And the politicians know full well that the people won't be foold forever. That's why both the Republicans and the Democrats are rushing through amnesty bills intended to give millions of lawbreaking invaders ciitzenship and the ability to dominate our elections.

Real soon it too late.

Fact of the matter is, it's too late now. Bush will sign the first amnesty bill that crosses his desk, and that's the end of America.
